Has anyone encountered a cockroach in there room?

At the end of August last year we stayed in all-star music out in the boonies of the Country Inn, the farthest building. We had no problems with our room however the night before we left when we walked into our room there was a cockroach on the wall next to the door, I'm assuming it followed us in. It wasn't a big deal because we were able to easily push it out the door. But I hate all bugs, especially cockroaches.

I know they are common in the south so I am wondering if anyone else has had something like that happen and how you would handle it.

BTW 34 days for me! yayy:D (had to brighten up this post)

Most respectable hotels spray for bugs regularly. I have never seen a roach in a Disney hotel, but I must be honest with you, it doesn't mean that they haven't been there. Roaches can be elusive, and they multiply like rabbits. The weather in Florida welcomes the bug population more than it does the tourists. The boundary established by spraying doesn't guarantee that they're not in the walls, behind the baseboards, in the plumbing, etc.

Your best bet is to ignore the possibility of their presence, and kill them if they appear. How? Hair spray, magazine, BB gun, whatever...

Coronado Spring March 2012, found:
1- a old sock
2- a Q-tip
3- a empty prescription bottle
4- a few dead ROACHES (3-4)
5- a medication measuring cup
6- a rock
Mouskeeping wasn't up to par!

I've only seen one on Disney property, and that was at the Tarzan/Jane M&G in Adventureland this past September. Same is true for Universal, I only saw one and that was at the 50's style diner. That's pretty darn good considering Florida's reputation for having them due to the weather, not to mention the amount of waste produced at these tourist places.

This Yankee from Upstate NY lived in FL for 19 years. They are Palmetto Bugs that live in the Palmetto bushes (short palm trees). They run in quickly to escape the heat. Those crickets sounds you hear at night are the bugs.

Luckily I never seen one in a Disney Hotel (they must spray for them). They are not gross roaches though....ok??? Hope that helps
