Has anybody done the Keys To The Kingdom tour (possible spoilers)

We did it a few years ago and had a great time. It's more of a museum tour than a show. You will have a guide who will take you around the park pointing out historic or unique facts. They tell some good stories, they took us through haunted mansion and fed us lunch at columbia harbor house. You can bring a camera even though they say you can't in the descriptor, they just ask you not to photograph certain things. You get a brief look into the utilidors system and get a sneak peek at the arcade staging area. We also saw woody without his head on backstage! It is def something different that you should experience if you are a big Disney fan.

Great, thanks for your reply.

There is some morbid curiosity with me that I would want to see a character without a head :joyfull:

Keys to the Kingdom is good! 4 of us went on it a few years back, and are now toying with the idea of whether to do it again in 2014. Was interesting as @onlinecoach61 says - its more of of a museum tour than a show, giving lots of background info which you may not have found out any other way. Lunch was good too. Saw Eeyore in the Utilidors (plus his head) and he behaved just as he does when on show!

Yup..just a flat out tour. No group participation, you walk, they talk, you listen and no one hassles you at all. You can ask questions and they may ask you trivia stuff, but no one is expected to know the answer so if you just say, "I don't know", you will not be thrown down a well or anything.

If they do seem to care that you don't know an answer you can simply reply by saying.. If I knew the answer to that, I'd be giving the tour and not you. That usually will lead them away from you in the future.:angelic:

The first time I took the tour was probably 12 or more years ago and you went to the animation building (might have been even longer ago since that is long gone) and everyone drew a character. I wasn't thrilled with that but they no longer do that. It is not interactive at all and worth every penny. If you have the Disney credit card you get a discount.

This is a must do for any Disney Park enthusiast. It is in no way cheesy, there is a reason it's for people 16 years and older. It s well worth the price and a great tour!

I think you are thinking about the backstage tour. To my knowledge the Keys to the Kingdom Tour has always been strictly in Magic Kingdom.

You're right that Keys wouldn't have included the animation experience....but I'm not sure Backstage Magic did either. I've taken it 4 times with various people, starting in the early 2000's. Nothing to do with animation was ever part of it, but they could have slipped it in for a short while. That would be odd though, because that's something you can do for free any day at DHS.

Yea, I wasn't sure about it on the Backstage Magic Tour. I took it about 4 years ago and it wasn't part of it then, but, not much was going on in that area back then, so I didn't know if maybe 12 years ago it was part of it. Have no clue, but I was pretty sure that it wasn't on the KttK Tour.

Thank you everyone for all your replies. Much appreciated.

For those who asked it won't be till end of October.

Out of interest is it just the Haunted Mansion you ride during it? Fine with me (my favourite!) but think I read somewhere you do a couple?

I have never done the tour but from reading the other thread I believe it could possibly include jungle cruise and PIrates as well. I have on my list to do this year as I have only heard positive comments.

I remember doing Pirates but not much else. Though my youngest seems to recall doing the TTA. I have done it a few times, all experiences are good but can still be affected by the guide and others on the tour. Especially if you have a fanboy who wants to share his expert knowledge.
As I often say on these threads in my opinion (which is the same as fact) the best tour was the Hidden Secrets of World Showcase, now sadly demised.
