Went to see the Harry Potter Movie this weekend (well the boards where down:animwink: ) I thought it was truely magical, with the cast, in particular the kid who plays Ron, magnificent.
Has anyone else seen it ? Don't you wish you could fly?

I can't wait to see it!!

Was there many kids there? ( I know it's an odd question, but most of the kids I know - relations & their mates - say they don't want to go "coz it's too gay" these kids are all about 9 or 10 )

We took our three, they really loved it. The 7 and 8 year olds want to go to Hogwarth's. The 11year old is playing it cool in front of his mates, but has all the toys on his Christmas list.

There was a lot more Adults there than kids though, the group in front of us had 5 adults and 1 kid. Somehow I think he was being used:animwink:
My sister is borrowing my youngest on Saturday so her and her BF can go.

It doesn't open here (Jacksonville) until the 16th. My son is going to a Harry Potter birthday party on Saturday, where they will go to see it.

Since I have been closely involved with my son's school's Book Fair for the past few years, I have read all of the books in response to parental complaints. They are not the best stories I've read, but are certainly better than a lot of "older" (ages 9-13) children's fiction currently being published.

In response to the biblical injunctions concerning witchcraft and sorcery, I believe my minister had the best response. "The bible says you cannot practice witchcraft, etc. or support people who do. It says nothing about reading about it in a FICTIONAL setting." I would assume that his remarks carry over to movies. I personally have no belief in witchcraft, and have raised my children the same way. The stories are make-believe! They are no more likely to become witches than they are to walk through a wardrobe and into another world.

I couldn't agree with you more Marcia, I've read all the books and found them to be really enjoyable. I tend to read most of the books my kids read so that I can talk to them about them and hopefully develop their love of literature.
I too don't see the harm in children reading and enjoying make believe. My eldest really liked the chronicles of Narinia, but he knew from the start it wasn't true.

When I was a child my Grandmother took me to the store every Saturday and bought me an Enid Blyton book, most of which I still have. How I loved those books and my own three have loved and enjoyed them too. They see no wrong in BigEars and Noddy going to bed together, they see the three gollywogs as happy funny bears and have no idea that the famous five are ***ist.
People chose to make bad often where there is none, and for many it is just something to complain about.

What! Say it isn't so.... I thought they were real. ;) :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the Harry Potter movie! :)

The faculty room here is like platform 9 3/4.... if you don't know where it is and walk towards it with confidence, you'll never find it....

We saw the film on Sunday and have to agree with whats been said already, it was wonderful. We had incredibly high expectations but it was nice not to be dissapointed. Amazing how many cameos from UK actors there are - be interested to know how many faces are familiar to you Stateside.
MarkyM - we saw it at 7.30 pm and there were far more couples than kids. If the 9 and 10 year olds dont want to look gay, tell 'em to take a lady. Its a rule that should work even better as they get older :animwink: )

The WB TV affliate was giving out free movie passes to the screening of theHarry Potter movie and so I saw it Sunday...

It took a lot of coaxing from my friends to even read to the Potter novels (I am an adult) so now that I am 2/3's through the fourth novel, I was looking forward to the movie.

All I can say is....yehhhh, Griffindor's !

My friends and I are having a Harry Potter party on Friday. We're all wearing costumes and going to see the movie at Pleasure Island. After the movie we are going to the theatre's new arcade for a DDR mini-tournament!!!
