Trip Report Happy Retirement Sister Dear!

So my sister just retired from her job at the overnight delivery service place (not the Big brown truck one) and wanted to go to Disney World And UniversAl. Who am I to turn down an invitation?

Who: Me, my sister C and her boyfriend M
When: October 6- 12
Where: Endless Summer Resort (10/6 - 10/8) with early entry and Universal Freedom Pass (whatever that is)
TBD for Disney. (10/8 - 10/12) Im trying to talk her out of Coronado Springs and into one of the Port Orleans resorts.
Attempting to go to MNSSHP on that Tuesday. She wants to go and it’s the main reason I’m going because I’ve been to the party before and her BF wants to sleep.

Have had a really stressful several months at work. This can’t come soon enough!

Tuesday, October 8

My sister is part of a group that either sells or trades sought after items. For a while it was Rae Dunn. Now it’s Hello Kitty. So we went to a couple of TJ Maxx and Marshalls around the area. Then we went to a couple of Outlet malls where I picked up a spirit jersey for $30. I was looking for the Kermit bag at KateSpade but they were sold out.

By that time I got the room ready text and we headed to Riverside.

MNSSHP

After a late lunch, my sister and I headed to the party. First ride was People Mover.

The ride stopped here and with the Halloween Overlay at Space Mountain I could see part of the ride vehicle this time and as we went through the total darkness, its was very on theme.

We then rode Haunted Mansion.

Then I got THE best ride photo, but because we weren’t there on a Park reservation or had LL I don’t know if I can justify paying that much for only two ride photos (color and B&W)

Tuesday (Cont.)

We had a lovely CM find us a spot for the parade. There was a very abbreviated version of Hocus Pocus going on, where they introduced the villains. The Sisters sang their signature song and then left. They may have though there was going to be rain (it had rained around 4:30 for about 15 minutes), but it never rained.

After the parade, we headed over to Tomorrowland to finish up the treat trail.

Saw TRON lit up at night.

We then headed to Small World.

PSA: Moms, maybe you shouldn’t be on your phone during the entire ride while your son attempts to lean out the boat. But, what do I know?

Wednesday

We received word that the parks were closing at 1:00. Luckily I was able to move my LLSP for Rise to an earlier slot. It was raining as soon as we stepped off the bus, so we headed over to Batuu.

15 minute wait for Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s run. Don’t mind if we do.

Didn’t have much time to take pictures. But I got an empty shot of the Dejarik

M and I got pilot. My sister was an engineer. We didn’t do too badly. I was a better pilot this time than back in 2019.

We exited to a downpour and tried to find a spot to wait out the few minutes until our LLSP for Rise was available.

Onto Rise! I was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to get on this ride with the impending hurricane. But since Milton had slowed a bit, it gave us this half day, which I was grateful.

Wednesday (contd)

This ride was AMAZING! When we were freed by the rebellion, they noticed that it was someone's birthday in our escape unit. The CM said “I‘m so sorry Haply birthday! Don’t know why you’d get captured on your birthday, but…whatever.”

Kylo was behaving and not in B mode. So, yay!

If I had people who were more Star Wars Savvy, I’d have convinced them to ride again.

We then left Batuu, and headed to M&M RR. i was a horrible picture taker and only managed to capture the hidden Mickey before the cartoon started.

Our next LL was for Toy Story Mania. I don’t want to brag, but

It’s a personal best, so I was quite pleased.

The rain had stopped, so I hopped on Slinky Dog.

I was a single rider for a lot of rides on this trip.

After this, we headed back to the resort for the rest of the night. We played cards and watched the MLB playoffs. Only issue we had was that the tv feed kept going in and out. We were very blessed and lucky.

Thursday

Pretty much slept through the night. Only woke up when the flash flood warning notification came out at 11:00 and 2:00.

Woke up at around 6:30 and took this picture from my room

I had picked up a cinnamon roll the day before to have for breakfast. Only downside was that there was no microwave in the room to heat it up.

We got the all clear at 9:30 and took a walk around the resort and over to French Quarter.

This was the building that my friend SJ and I stayed at back in 2004.

Went into the merchandise shop and stopped by the trivia section. Only missed 2 questions. The lovely CM gave me this for my efforts:

We then walked back to Riverside and ate our box lunch that we got the day before.

WDW knows how to take care of its guests during a hurricane. But, I’m. It sure I want to experience it again.

My parents weren’t too happy with my sister and me. But I reminded them when I got home that the way they felt was exactly how I felt when they drove home during an ice and snow storm. I was safe in a hotel room at Disney.

This was the first day for the parks to be back open. But it was also a party day at MK.

First ride of the day was 7DMT as a single rider.

Next was single rider at BTMRR. 15 minute wait!

Where was I? Yes. After checking out Tiana’s party, we decided to check out a few old friends.

My verdict?

I loved it! I’m so glad they updated everything and my 8-year old self fell in love all over again with the bears.

After the Jamboree, my LL for Tron was ready.

It was fantastic!

It was now lunch time, so we headed over to the Contemporary

I was the only one hungry so I tired their vegetable flatbread - new for me.
