Non-aerial fireworks are legal here, so we only have to worry about the rockets, etc. The folks on the next street over always have MUCH larger aerials, so we're hoping they'll keep the police busy. :animwink:

Well, I decided to stay home one more time, and didn't go to New Year's Party at Copacabana Beach this year. It's too much confusion, huuuuge crowds, not the kind of stuff you wanna do with a toddler. You gotta arrive there before 6 PM (otherwise you won't get there and spend New Year's on the bus or subway) and will only be able to leave after 3 am... And after watching Wishes, any fireworks show seems small... The last time I saw Copacabana's firewors, they were still over the crowd, and the burning ashes were falling on our faces. The following year, I wasn't there, and they had an accident (the fireworks exploded on the ground) and some people died. So they decided to launch them over the sea, on a platform. They had some problems this year, "too much humidity and no wind" (they said), and there was a lot of smoke blocking the view. I saw them on TV. Beautiful... but it's NOT Wishes...

:lol: I speak Portuguese... but brazilian Portuguese is totally different from the one they speak in Portugal. But don't worry, just memorize the sentences and you will be just fine. :lol:

I am fine... looking for a better job... or for a way to move to the USA with my husband and my baby. 2006??? I think I will die if I have to wait for so long.... I really hope I can go back there this year.
