Hand Granades found in DTD Trash Can

In that case they could probably turn any mundane item into something not very family friendly.

Sometimes a toy is just a toy.
Very True. Back in the day, you could pull the pin, throw it, and play. It was accepted as a toy then. Not so much nowadays.

I remember when toy guns were very realistic looking.

Most of them are now purposely made to not be realistic because of certain people using toys as instruments of terror. Such is the world we live in now.

hmmm...I grew up with fake grenades that came from Army Surplus Stores(there used to be one every 5 square miles or so). The levers were missing or welded into a locked position and the grenades had been hollowed out. We also use to play with fake guns and real army helmets. We wore Army Field Jackets because they were warm and COOL! None us grew up to go into the army nor became terrorists.

How politically incorrect we were.

Same here.
I had an inert M2 that my friends and I used to huck back and forth at each other.
It's a wonder we never hit anyone in the head with it.

I'm sure they meant those to go to SGE... (I actually don't mind the attraction but this was the perfect oportunity :p)

I know that this is waaaay off topic, but I can't help but say that I really miss Alien Encounter. I thought it was one of the coolest things in the Magic Kingdom. It did not have to be "dumbed down" to Stitch's Not-so- Great Escape. It was especially refreshing to have something that was actually a little scary. Not enough to harm anything.

It all kind of reminds me of the "politically correct toys" discussion going on above. Not everything that children experience needs to be whitewashed and sanitary.

Just like "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down," it is also true that sometimes a little dirt helps make the medicine work. (Little hands that have never experienced germs will never develop the antibodies to fight them.)

I can't help but think that the attempt to sanitize completely the world for kids does them a disservice, philosophically and physically.

Whats weird is that the report mentioned a similar event happening at the King of Prussia mall the same day as the thing at DTD, I live about 5 minutes from that mall and didn't hear anything about it on the local news.

So, I assume you never were in an O Club in Vietnam.

Especially an aviation O Club.

Nope...never been to Vietnam and I have no idea what an O Club is much less an Aviation O Club.

However, since you bring it up in this context, I can guarantee that I don't have any desire to go to one.

I know and work with some very (legally) crafty people.

By the way, the EO in my name stands for Explosive Ordinance. Remember, I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help you.
Maybe they are teaching something new at Redstone/ HDS. Last time they pulled up though the trailer they were pulling and the van didn't have anything that looked like a DTD trashcan on it. ;)
