When will this occur? I am planning on attending the 11-2 party and was wondering if they change over night so if I plan a day at the MK on 11-3 would I be able to see xmas deco?

They do the change the night after the last Halloween party. Not everything will be up as they add more and more things as it gets closer to Thanksgiving but I know Town Square will have changed over from scarecrows and pumpkins to candy canes and toy soldiers :)

No, they don't change over night. Its far too large of a job. But it happens fast. The last MNSSHP date is the 2nd of November and the first for MVMCP is the 9th. So it will take place during that time. they have to remove all the halloween and put up all the christmas...its a huge job.

I believe the first Osborne Lights night is also Nov 9th. I've heard that the resorts flip to holiday mode around the 17th. Still you'll probably see some of the early holiday decor go up in the parks.

I had been wondering the same thing...I thought I was being clever and originally booked our trip for 11/1-9, thinking we'd hit up the last MNSSHP & first MVMCP; but alas, Disney went and pushed the "last dates" back by one day.

Anywhosen, when I was there last year, we attended the last MNSSHP on 11/1/11, and were departing the very next day. Well, when DME came to get us at 6 a.m., our resort (the Contemporary) was already playing Christmas music!!! From what I understand, and to echo what others have stated, the Halloween decor begins to come down in the wee hours of the morning after the last MNSSHP. However, MK will not be fully decorated until the first MVMCP (11/9).

The castle lights will be, or are, going up at MK. The lights in HS for the Osborne show are already going up. We could get lucky and get to view some "soft testing!" while we're down there (10/31-11/8)!

You should see less Halloween decorations. Maybe some Christmas decorations. They can do alot overnight, but I believe its more a get rid of all Halloween stuff that doesn't leave gaps in decor, then swap out the decorations that would leave gaps, then add the Christmas stuff in other places. So that there is no overlap in decorations. So the pumpkins on the buildings, signs on lampposts, etc would be first to go. The scare crows and fall plantings I believe get swapped out for the soldiers/winter plantings. Then any other Christmas stuff would go up. That type of order. I'd say it would be more a 2 night transformation. They can do alot in one night, the night after a party is shortened so it may be tougher. They wouldn't get a clear park til 1-2 AM, and I think they would need to turn it back over to ops to open by like 7 AM. A non party night should give them an extra 2-3 hours to do work.

I'll be the from October 30th to Nov 5th and I also hope I can see the Christmas Decor, will I? :(
Heading to Magic Kingdom on the 5th.

I'll be there Nov 1-4, maybe we'll see each other haha. But no, you won't they'll still be focusing on MNSSHP then. And I was told that christmas decor doesnt show up fully until the day after Thanksgiving, or was I misinformed on that? Not positive, we usually go the beginning of December so we always see the decor. But yeah, they should still be focusing on Halloween then :/

The last MNSSHP was on 11/1 in 2010, I believe. They probably don't do much on the actual night of the last party since the park doesn't close until 12 and probably isn't actually cleared out until a couple hours later.

Here's Town Square the afternoon of 11/3/2010:

And here's Town Square at 8:15 AM 11/4/2010:

Not only are scarecrows swapped out for the toy soldiers and candy canes, but all the flowers are changed and the Mickey wreaths are up on the lamp posts.

So if the last MNSSHP is on the 2nd, I would expect to see a decent chunk of Christmas decorations up on the 5th. In 2010, we left on the 7th, and I remember seeing decorations on Hollywood Blvd, the big Christmas tree in front of DHS, and the garland over Main St before we left.

The entire property is switched over on the Thanksgiving timeline. So some of the resorts and such won't be Christmas til that point. Since MK has the party, they get their stuff switched over fast. DHS and AK shouldn't be far behind, Osborne lights is schedule to kick off Nov 9th, and the Jingle Jungle Parade should be about the same time. Epcot however doesn't have the storytellers start til Nov 23rd this year, the day after Thanksgiving. But since they have so much stuff to put up property wide, it is a gradual process with bits and pieces showing up each night.

Last year I arrived on 11-10 and everything had switched over at the parks. When I arrived Osborne was either opening or had opened the night before. The hotels didn't have any holloween decorations, but they didn't have their Christmas decorations either. I think they take longer.

Yes, they DO change it OVERNIGHT with the help of 1200 or so employees and you can find time lapse video of the process and it's incredible. We found the change 2 days after the last Halloween party, which we attended, which is why we inquired about the way it is done. Like everything Disney it's a well orchestrated routine. Look for the video, if your a Disney diehard, you'll be even more impressed! I highly recommend visiting both parties, the Halloween and the Christmas in the same week if possible, like we did 2 years running, it felt like being part of the magic for sure....one day your celebrating Halloween fun with villians, pumpkins and Hocus Pocus and the next your waiting for Santa to come down mainstreet.....TIP...be sure and dress as festive as possible, not only do tourist enjoy it, the employees (cast members) LOVE it when everyone gets into the spirit of things!!
