Halloween Horror Nights 2023

I'm not sure of the extent of it, but there are definitely a decent amount of sets that appear every year somewhere, but not always in the same house location. AFAIK the houses are built fresh every year, but layouts are likely reused.

Also do they reuse sets from the year prior? Because the Yeti one was where Dead Man's Pier was and has striking similarities, I would say the same for the Darkest Deed. It could also just be that they are unimaginative with the placement of things.
Individual props & set pieces? Yes, those are all sitting in a warehouse most of the year and get recycled, although not necessarily year-to-year. Entire sets? No, not unless they're actually trying to recreate a previous house, in which case those sets have been rebuilt. After the event, anything that isn't easily salvageable gets torn down & scrapped and those designs are not usually repurposed. I can't say I see the similarities in those particular houses either.

Just got back from Horror Nights a few days ago, the houses this year were much weaker than last year. I have also been "soured" in a way, the crowd management for HHN is some of the worst I've ever seen (year after year).

The food & drink booths pricing and portions are just outrageous, and the NEED for express has made an event I really once enjoyed less and less enjoyable.

We arrived at 5:15pm and were not aware of the "stay and scream" option, which is basically just if you have an AP you can get access to select houses before the 6:30pm opening time, so at 6:15(ish) when they opened the gates, Stranger Things was already at 120 minute wait.

Also do they reuse sets from the year prior? Because the Yeti one was where Dead Man's Pier was and has striking similarities, I would say the same for the Darkest Deed. It could also just be that they are unimaginative with the placement of things. But even the Stranger Things house, which was very well done (detailed wise) was pretty lackluster in the scare factor.

The Chucky house was also a massive disappointment, and the scare zones seemed very light with actors this year. I hope this was just an off year for Uni and they can step it up next year.

Word has gone out about Stay & Scream and there's probably more people using that than waiting outside the front gate at this point.

They do reuse props/scenic (Exorcist staircase is similar to last year's Halloween staircase scene) but the houses are completely new each year. Not sure what sets your talking about in Yeti being duplicate of Dead Man's. Same props maybe, but the houses are built from the ground up.

Chucky is way below HHN''s standards.

Food & Drink at Universal (operations & pricing) are always horrendous.

Scare Zones are actually well staffed this year (same with houses) not sure where you are coming from there.

Definitely not an off year, but HHN needs to address some serious operations issues at the event.

So we did express pass and from stay and scream starting at 515, got all 10 houses, all 5 rides, death eaters, ate several places, drank several places and even took breaks. We were finished before midnight and had hours to spare. we did not do the show, just had no interest in it.

houses ranked as follows
1. Stranger things
2. Blood moon
3. Dr odd fellow
4. Last of us
5. yeti
6. darkest deal
7. Monsters - I don’t know if this changes, but we only had mummy, wolf and ripper on Our walk through.
8. Exorcist
9. dueling dragons
10. Chunky…. God, this was bad.

things that need to get better are cleanliness overall, especially bathrooms and emptying trash cans.

Isn't the Monsters house The Invisible Man, Phantom, and Jekyl/Hyde this year?
