Rumor Hall of Presidents Replaced by Muppets American History Show???

Nevertheless, unless HOP goes the Muppets route, it will be closed to be rethemed for Trump. It shouldn't need to take 6 months 1 year!, though as with 2016-2017. They already have his likeness. He'll be called once like Cleveland. As the most recent President, the roll will go from Obama to Biden then Trump. For the new President in 2029, he'll retake his place in the roll after Obama, then Biden, then the new President.

It is not based on who won the presidency but how divisive and ugly we have become as a country in the last 8 years... HOP was always about being united as a people...the story of how we became Americans.... not how we became Red states or blue states.... It is not a team sport but has been played as one. We need to get back to being united...working together to solve the problems of the modern world...

I have a feeling this will be locked and posts purged, but I will try to give a relatively non-political and no doubt unpopular perspective on this.

I just think this attraction is anachronistic and is way out of step with where society and tastes are in 2024. People (probably correctly) don't put the figure of the president on a pedestal as in the past and see them more as a political leader than a symbol of the nation. In an environment when politics is increasingly polarised, an attraction which features an audio animatronic of the country's most high-profile politician addressing park guests just hits weirdly as few will be able to look at whoever that leader is and think of anything beyond whether they agree or disagree with whatever their political program may be. American Adventure is a far better attraction on US history that avoids all this but is in a similar spirit that I think has further helped make HoP obsolete.

That said, if they wanted to change it, they needed to do it before a new election cycle. Replacing it now is going to be read as overtly political and cause headlines they have been trying to move beyond over the past few years. So, I think they kind of have to update it and keep it running for at least a few more years.

They really don't... They can change the format at any time. This newly elected president has already had the honor of being in the HOP in it's current format... This is a good reset time actually

TWDC will do what it wants. If they choose to replace it now, they will.

I would agree with you, but this thread already shows that plenty of people will read it very indignantly as a slight against one side of politics. Related to political polarisation, we live in an era of rage bait and Disney appearing to close an attraction rather than feature X president as they have always done in the past makes a good story whether it's entirely true or not. It also plays into a pre-existing narrative within that ecosystem in this case. So, I really think they just have to update it and keep it running a while longer. The only other viable option would be to quietly close it in January and make no announcement about reopening for a good while in the hope things have moved on by the time they're ready to announce a replacement.

In my opinion -

My guess HoP will re open with Trump in his speaking role because MONEY.

The money to change the president was already in the budget.

A total change of the attraction is not in the budget.

Perhaps Disney should keep the HoP open because it’s anachronistic. If it is about the office of the presidency in an age where we are divided, maybe it will actually heal division by growing respect for the office, despite the officeholder being of a different persuasion.

That's putting a lot of pressure on that one attraction.

At any rate, we now have almost a quarter of a century of watching responses to audio animatronics of the current president within the attraction grow increasingly polarised regardless of political persuasion rather than the attraction bringing the nation together. If they want to help bring people together in an environment of increasing political polarisation, my feeling is that it would be better to devise an attraction that focuses on those aspects that unite rather than divide which could be things such as shared values, history, etc.

Well most of the show focuses on why we have this form of leadership and then the civil war a d pressure of the office to keep the country united in a tome far more polarizing then now. So it does what you say it should do.

I cant help it. I hope you understand, it’s all in fun and this is just a silly discussion forum.
Oh I’m the king of silly and should probably just leave this thread given my current emotional state that really has nothing to do with these AAs that look nothing like the men they represent. I actually get a sick pleasure from how bad some of them look.
