TimTracker pointed out that unless the single rider queue is not passed the staircase, don’t do it because you will wait the same amount of time as the regular queue just without much to look at.

This might improve once they get it up to full capacity. But in general, single rider lines are hit or miss. Often you wait the same as the normal line or longer, and you won’t really know what you’re in store for until you are More familiar with the physical length of the line.

Exactly this. We've learned over the past few visits that if the Gringott's single rider line is longer than the bottom of the staircase it's a no for us. (There have been a few times we've made it just into the side corridor and we see people at the far end. We turn around on the spot and head out) And if the single rider line on Mummy is more than 1/2 down the stairs it's a no.
Thankfully Forbidden Journey is so quick-loading that we've never had to bail on the single rider line, as we've never seen it get much beyond the sorting hat.

That was more or less a fluke of a sityation in that video. Tech, weather and large families traveling on vacation made for less individual seats per train.

I still wouldn't want to be standing in the sun like he did instead of indoors. Certainly not at this time of year.

Yep. Single rider is most effective on rides that dispatch a lot of people frequently. It's always fast on Forbidden Journey because the seats are mere seconds apart and any time there's a party of three, a single rider gets added.

its not necessarily a fluke. The single rider lines are a crapshoot most of the time.

It’s not just the frequency (which should increase on Hagrid’s) but also the size of the ride vehicle. A grouper can potentially fill a single seat on a train with a rider from another odd numbered group, two groups of three can take three rows instead of four with two single riders.

It will not be common to be as long as the regular line is more or less what I meant.
But yes, having an even number of rows and the nature of the ride will make it not as frequent as other loading such as the incredible Forbidden Journey at Full Capacity or bench seats like Kong or even River Adventure.

Just to add, though it should be obvious, the single rider has to defer seating choice to the rider they are paired with. Which is as it should be.

Yep whereas on a coaster they can combine two parties of three across 3 rows. On forbidden journey where each bench seats four it’s a group of three and a single that go together.

Heading down next Sunday and Universal is our first stop. We should arrive on property around noon and plan on going straight to the parks to take advantage of our express pass. Hagrid doesn't have express. What is the best tactic for getting on the ride with the shortest amount of wait? We will also be there all day Monday? Is there a single riders? Does it help?

'has' to? No.. Courtesy would be for the two to agree. In my experience the grouper was just putting people in twos the same everytime.. and people would discuss their choices in the hallway after the grouper.

The singler rider for Hagrid's isn't going to be a great choice given the pairings are just 2.. very easy for most groups to fit into that.

When I did it, when we were all the way outside the castle door, it was about an hour wait. If the line were anywhere out over that 'bridge' area or even where the split from the main line is.. I'd tell people to stay in the main line.

Yeah. I shouldn't have said that in definite terms. I can see it working out that way too, depending on the grouper. In my experience (in the main queue with my two daughters who wanted to ride together) the grouper asked me what seat I wanted before pulling somebody from the single rider line. That's just the way in happened for me.

Looking at reports, my guess would be to try later in the day, or attempt to make it the last ride of the night (assuming the queue doesn't close early). As others are reporting the single rider line may not be any quicker, depending how long it and the main queue are.

I've been checking the app to see when the queue closes because I want to ride again and prefer to wait until the evening, and what's frustrating is they arbitrarily close the line too. Sometimes as early as 7:30, other times 9:00 (with 10:00 closings). So you don't know when it will open or close. To guarantee a ride, you'd probably want to be in line by 7:00-7:30 at the latest.
