Gumbo at Blue Bayou

November 2018 was our first trip to Disneyland. We had a great meal at the Blue Bayou and really loved the Gumbo. We will be there again in April 2020 and noticed Gumbo was not on the menu. Is it a seasonal item or is it gone forever?

Try asking them for it! Sometimes its at the New Orleans restaurant. That Gumbo is really good! Have you tried the mint julep and fritters at the side window of this restaurant? They are fantastic!

If I am really hungry the fried chicken dinners are fantastic!

Thanks, many have read my post but you are the only one to reply. We loved the Gumbo at the Blue Bayou and will check their and at New
Orleans. We'll be there for a week so will try the mint julep and fritters and the chicken.

If you want something outside Disney there are some great options on Harbor Boulevard directly across the street from Disneyland east entrance. There is a McDonalds, Panera Bread, Ihop, Denny's, and Tony Romas. see pic.

The Plaza Inn has the fried chicken. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/plaza-inn/

I wouldn’t consider these great options at all, especially McDonald’s and Denny’s. Panera Bread is decent.

OP, if you want something outside the parks, there’s a Roscoe’s down the street. I’d recommend that over any and everything directly across the street on Harbor.

I'm kind of with Raven on some of those... Denny's and McDonald's are not what I would call "great" options. However, there were a couple of things that you missed- like Jimboys.

Most of Harbor Blvd is great if you want to save money over what the park charges and there are options there that are equivalent to what is in the park. But Tony Roma's, Panera, and Jimboy's would be the main ones that I'd leave the park for. Or to have food delivered from other spots.

If you're getting food outside DTD/The parks, go to one of the restaurants along Center Street Promenade or the Packing House. Lots of unique wonderful options and reasonable prices, especially when compared to the resort area. Only like a 10 minute drive down Harbor.

Don't get food on Harbor, especially right outside the parks.

The OP asked specifically about the BLU BAYOU GUMBO so why would someone recommend McDonald's? Since when do they serve gumbo at McDs?
Because he said he was going to be at the resort for a week! I had also mentioned that I liked the chicken in the Plaza Inn. I would not eat at McDonnalds but lots of people do. I mentioned these restaurants because they are in walking distance to the resort. I am guessing he might be flying and may not have a car or know the area. After the price increase for EVERYTHING at the resorts and maybe wanting a bit of variety I thought mentioning these options might be beneficial. Over the years I have gotten some valuable information from people that I never knew to ask about!

Anyone ever had Uber Eats deliver food to the front gates of Disneyland? Would cast members allow you to pass the bags over the turn styles? I bet they would but their supervisors might be upset.

It is a shame that Walt did not live long enough to see his dream of Captain Kidd's opening become a reality.
Back in the 70s there was a Jolly Roger restaurant on Ketella. It was part of the hotel that is now the Residence Inn. They had a kids menu that folded out to a pirate hat. There were pictures of pirates and ships on the walls. We would always have diner there after Disneyland.
