Guide to DLR for WDW Veterans!

Years ago DD was a huge sleeping beauty fan. On the BluRay there is a walk through of the castle. Always wanted to go and would watch over and over. Sadly for her this will be a business trip. No DD. :(

Yes, the castle, radiator springs, IJ, snow white, Mr toad (miss both) and a few others. I know DW and I can't see it all. But this might likely be our only trip ever to dlr.

Be careful. I thought our 2014 trip would be our first and only trip to DLR, lol. But we fell in love with DLR and went back in 2015 and can't wait to go back next year!

I hope you and DW have a blast!

Yep! I know most people think that is way too long, but we have had a great time spending all of our days at DLR. Not bored for a second. We went back to WDW a couple of months ago and missed our leisurely DLR trip this year.

I'm quite impressed, I must say. I can barely handle two days in a row, let alone 10 lol.

You could try getting a ticket through AARP or Costco, which might sell them for cheaper. Or you could use that one day to go elsewhere in Orange County or even to Los Angeles. Just an idea.

Two - three days is our max at WDW. Can't speak to DL. Really, not sure I can afford more. I like to always want to come back for more...

We once had a 19 day trip to WDW...it was extended due to a hurricane...at home.

We just did eight days in Disneyland. With one day as a break in the middle. I think it must be a WDW veteran thing; we're used to doing days in a row. It also helps when you can just walk or take a bus back when you're ready to leave. Of course my poor feet were not happy at the end of the trip, especially with no train.

We bought APs, and so I am planning a girls' trip in January. :)

It's definitely a culture thing. Disneyland trips are usually 1-day visits or coupled with another attraction in Southern California, for locals, that is. It's not really seen as a vacation spot...more like going to the mall or the movies.

Eight days is definitely too much for me, but then again I am not a tourist. I can see the appeal for those out of town who don't live out West. Don't think I could handle almost an entire month at WDW...would definitely be looking for something else to do. LOL.

Yeah, we want to make the most out of our West Coast trips, so that's why we go for that long. Especially since after our annual passes expire, we might not be back for another three days. I do understand where you're coming from. We're doing Hershey Park tomorrow, which is about two hours away. My plan on Friday is to sleep and relax at home because I'm going to be worn out.

We do two week trips in the summer to WDW and spend many days by the pool. Sometimes we'll go to Epcot in the evenings, walk around, and that is the extent of our day in the park for right then. Plus there's water parks, Disney Springs, etc., so it's not like you're doing the same thing every day.

You may find my January plan a bit absurd: my friend can only go in January with her school schedule. My parents are going to WDW on January 11, and they said to me, "How do you plan on doing Disneyland and WDW in the same month?" Very simple actually. We'll fly into LAX, spend six days in Anaheim, drive down to San Diego and spend a few days there, and then we'll fly out of San Diego, my friend back home, and me to...Orlando. :cyclops: By the time we go home on the 23rd, I think I'll be done, haha.

I've done several 9 and 10 day trips. I'm doing 9 in January. Though I am planning to take one day and go to to Knotts. I'm hoping to someday do three weeks at WDW.

So excited because I just booked my flights. Took the advice of many and took a non-stop into LGB. (nothing nonstop to SNA). For some reason there was no non-stop to Boston home from LGB the day I was traveling so leaving via LAX on the red eye. (I may have upgraded to a Mint seat on the way home for the heck of it!)

Now just need DW to book her flights through work (it is a conference for her). And then I need tickets.

Question: The discount ticket agency recommended by Mousesavers doesn't yet sell tickets valid for next April. But DLR directly does. Am I better off buying full price now, or waiting for discount prices, but maybe prices will increase in the interim.

(Now I need to get my magic bands and 180 day ARSs…wait that is WDW…) :)

Prices will almost assuredly go up again before April, so if you want to hedge your bets, buy directly from Disney now.

Thanks. I figured they would. Just trying to decide if the discount brokers will extend the life of their tickets before then. I guess I should email them.

So jealous of those of you who do not have to fly into LAX because that's the only airport with nonstop flights from Baltimore (and it will be January...which means possible delays and cancellations because of weather. Nope. Non-stop for us). :grumpy: Just glad we're flying out of San Diego.

Print at home tickets ok or should I pay extra to have them mailed to me? Are the print at home actual tickets or just vouchers?

I have never been to DLR but WDW several times. We were planning on going this year but with all of the construction going on / shut downs this year decided to postpone it till they complete SWL. I was looking at a map of DLR and was shocked of how many E-ticket rides the park has in it. Plus, DCA has some big E-ticket rides too. Am I overreacting or are the two parks that good?

You're not overreacting. I've never actually counted myself, but I've heard multiple times that DLR's two have more attractions than WDW's four.

Actual tickets. But you wont be able to scan them in the cool way, or use any of the MM+ stuff (FP+ memory maker etc.)

Print at home is fine. The first time you go through the gates they exchange for a regular ticket.

When i went last year, that didn't happen. We just got the wrist band.

Are the regular tix rfid like at wdw? Is that what you use at the fast pass kiosks? I didn't think they had any of the Mm+ stuff yet.
