Thrawn - whatever. If you can be bothered, get a book. Disney Touch by Ron Glover is a good start. Then ask guest services for a copy of the press release 0486WDW.

I never claim to be an expert, once again you have made that up.

Your rudeness and arrogance has reached new depths.

Press release and contract are two different things. Completely. Just because the contract was signed on a certain day means absolutely NOTHING.

Why is it trivial? He has been posting for weeks, if not more, that the name would be changing. I have been replying that it wouldn't. He replies to ALL of these threads with the same spiel. I've heard it more than the Jungle Cruise spiel. According to what you are saying, because he is wrong, I need to stay out the thread and let him spread incorrect information? I think not.

I think they kept it the same.. ? i like it like that.

Yes they did. It will remain that way for the forseeable future.
[speculation]
I can't see them removing the MGM tag while still having MGM movies in the park. So, if it is going to be removed, the Great Movie Ride would be gutted, and new Disney owned movies would be brought in. (Or movies from any new partner, if one was found) Maybe it can even be the Disney-Sony Studios

I know you are only speculating (DUH!!) but all Disney would have to do is get permission from MGM to keep GMR the way it is. Just like they needed permission to use the Twilight Zone moniker for Tower of Terror from CBS. It could happen, but you never know.

no i was saying that there was no reason to be rude about it, and i apologize for not seeing his previous posts on other threads and i understand where you are coming from. it does get sorta annoying if people constantly post the same things. i said it was trivial because its dropping the mgm name off. if thats what happens, big deal no more mgm name.

sorry to anyone who actually thinks its important i don't mean to offend anyone with this posts, its just in my opinion, it doesen't matter to me what the disney studios name is.

Thats exactly what I think DID happen. The contract probably states that as long as they use MGM movies in the park, that MGM would stay in the park name. If I was running MGM, thats what I would require the contract say.

I was talking about if they were forced to remove MGM from the GMR, because this "20 year contract" is up.

The renaming of a Walt Disney World park isn't a "trivial" change. People STILL argue over

E.P.C.O.T. & EPCOT Center & Epcot

This is true. Epcot was only EPCOT Center from 1982-1993. That’s only 11 years and now 12 years later many people still call it EPCOT Center. The Disney-MGM studios, has had that name for 16 years now. It will be easy for Disney to drop the name but darn near impossible for them to get the average guest to do the same.

Thrawn, you've made our lives a living hell. So, we're going to kill you.

Now, with that settled, the contract probably has expired, and Disney's just waiting and planning to take down all the signage around the park.

Zzzzzz. Once again, you are wrong. I`ve never said the name WOULD be changing - only stating when the original contract would expire.

Get it right, and get a life. So sad...

For the record - Thrawn; you are wrong. Get off your self righteous high horse and try to contribute something constructive. It would make a pleasent change.

So, let me get this straight... Marni is wrong but you are always right??? Didn't you say NO ONE HERE KNOWS WHAT THE TERMS OF THE CONTRACT SAYS??? So, with saying Marni is wrong and you are right, then you imply YOU know the terms of the contract. Marni states the press release stated the contract was a 20 year contract signed June 27, 1985.. In my world, June 27 2005 would be 20 years.. So based on the original press release, YES THE 20 YEARS HAVE PASSED....

Marni, I believe, also stated he didn't know if there were any other terms added to the agreement, stipulations, or other agreements that may prolong the contract past 20 years.. I guess THRAWN you do know... Marni never claims to EVER be an expert in anything related to rumors or what Disney was doing.. You on the other hand seem to think you know for sure what Disney is doing.. We can all guess and state rumors.. Truth is none of us know... So, THRAWN deal with the fact you are rude and arrogant...

Right, he admitted he didn't know if there were any stipulations AFTER I CALLED HIM OUT ON IT. He says its a twenty year contract. I'll take his word for it. However, when did the twenty years start? I'm sure it wasn't 20 years from the day the contract is signed. First, because businesses don't do contracts like that. They pick a date (usually like the start of their fiscal year or the start of a month) and call that the first day of the contract. In this case, I would guess it would be twenty years after the opening of the park. In that case, we have four years before we have to worry about this.

When I said that I was right, I meant that the name did not change on June 28th, just I said it wouldn't. I didn't say anything else, so do not try to speak for me. He was wrong. Now he's trying to backtrack.
