Guardians Review

I absolutely love this ride! Favorite in WDW! We’ve gone 4 times so far and were able to take a group of family members with us once. Several are prone to motion sickness, though I think they took Dramamine earlier in the day and had no problems.

We’ve been fortunate enough to get different songs each time. So far my ranking, best to “worst” is: Everybody Wants to Rule the World, September, Disco Inferno, I Ran

Not to hijack this, but very curious: Who DIDN’T like this ride? Seems like everyone here loves it (though do appreciate the mention above on mixed results with people they have gone with). We haven’t been to WDW in over 10 years and we are older now—with back and neck issues now. We will never do Mission Space again (was hard to do when we were younger, Major dizziness after) and now we’re at the point where we won’t do RnRC or Space. But we WILL do ToT, probably Thunder, and of course we will try FoP. BUT Guardians sounds like it might be a bit too much. Is there anyone our age (70s) who could NOT handle it?

I've ridden it 8 times in 6 days now and I really rate this ride.

Have gotten every song other than Tears For Fears...the one i really want out of all 6.

Was speaking to one of the staff controlling the ride and asked if we were able to pick the song...he said it's random and that none of the staff are able to control it - Although he did say Tear For Fears was the rarist of all the songs. So it looks like some are more possible than others.

I've got 2 tries left (maybe more) before i head back home on Saturday.
Everybody... kinda sucks on this ride. Doesn't work. My least favorite so far. Really not missing anything.

I like the length, the wind in face. I don't love love it and it's not our favorite in even just in Epcot. I have a slew of issues with my spine and can ride it.

Meh…been on all those 🤪

I really like guardians…it’s a good “blended” ride to me…

But I don’t consider it that “thrilling”…just fun.

Which is all I want from Disney rides…fun.
Heh?
First you insulted him...and told him he had to get out more.
When he told you he's been on a wide variety of coasters then you reply by with this utterly dismissive response?

I know this forum isn't the worst corner of the internet by any stretch, but can't we aim just a little higher, and try to be a just little nicer to each other?

I mean, good grief, the OP just wants a little info about riding GoG. Can't we have just one thread these days that doesn't quickly turn mean spirited?

Maybe a little more Baloo or even Thumper in the way we respond to each other?

Please? It would make this forum so much more enjoyable!

It’s all in good fun…if you paid attention…we’re not strangers here.

I tease…I make fun of myself…I give up points all the time.

The context matters.

I find the timing of this long delayed response very interesting. 9/11/22 at 3:47 when a “rage fest” is going after everyone’s “big daddy” company is giving almost nothing back after running off to the bank with everyone’s plague money

A friend of mine growing up had the same habit. Much of what she said was interesting and insightful, but then her insecurities would get the best of her.
Later she realized she could do better, and she was much more fun to be around.

GoG is a fun ride. The creators found a great way to use immersive technology.

It is a fun ride but IMO it's not that impressive. It didn't even crack the top 25 golden ticket steel coasters.

We rode it on our preveiw day so wasn't to sure about it. I was trying to figure out what is considered the front, we loaded in the 2nd car from the the front going forward into the ride but I know it goes backwards..were we in the back for the ride ?... because it was a lot of g-force for me.

.he said it's random and that none of the staff are able to control it - Although he did say Tear For Fears was the rarist of all the songs.

so it's possible that Conga can play 28 times straight???

And as for the other 5 songs not Tears for Fears do they have the same probability of playing?
I'm quite curious as to the event frequency of each song

(I was under the impression that there was a set/predetermined sequence whereby perhaps every 6th train played "I Ran" and then the train after that played "Disco Inferno" etc etc thus making it random to the guest but not random to Disney)

Load layout and theming is impressive

The launch isn’t “bad”.

The first big projection system is impressive

The ride is good. Not amazing.

Over half the guests asked come off feeling uneasy

Once standby is available I wouldn’t wait more than an hour to ride. Once. I wouldn’t pay for it.

Thanks to 😊

We did it yesterday. My wife is SUPER prone to motion sickness, and even took a motion pill before going on. She also gets migraines a lot.

I thought it was different and fun but I couldn’t really enjoy because I knew she was suffering! And when we got off, she had to sit down. I saw maybe 2-3 others sitting down, head down.

I would do it again. My wife won’t ever do it again. She was out of commission for a few hours

It’s not too intense, it’s the spinning that threw her off, kind of like the difference between green and Orange mission space

Ride is good. Queue is... odd. The first part seems to be there for no particular reason. The upstairs part is so detailed that it becomes overload and convoluted (why are there interviews with the Guardians? Couldn't hear a lot of the audio because we ended up moving quickly through that area because we had been stopped for a while at the top of the ramp). Pre-show seems kind of dumb, honestly. To me, if feels like WDI trying to be funny and clever and just failing on both. The start of the ride is impressive, but after the first big projection, the whole build-up and story is lost. The ride itself is good, but there's so much going on that it's difficult to see it all when you're also trying to mentally adjust to being rotated. I'm not a big fan of the forced rotation, but it didn't ruin the ride for me on my only ride last month.

Overall, it's what I thought all along - Good ride, wrong park. But it's not something I'll do more than once a trip (it didn't really affect me when riding at night, but the G forces can have a different impact on me depending on the day), and definitely will not pay for it.

I loved it...was there the last week of September (Ian's week) and rode it three times (paid for it twice as we were in other parks for two mornings and hopped to Epcot so we missed the VQ's). Subjective opinion of course, but i thought it was the most fun i have had on a ride in a very long time. I am sure my opinion of it would have been different if i were prone to motion sickness, obviously. Everyone is going to have different opinions and different takes on the value of ILL's...i thought this was worth paying for...YMMV.

I guess I’m lucky I got tears for fears when I rode which was a treat as I love the song.

It's my favorite ride ever. It's just pure fun. I saved the picture from my first time riding it & there's just a huge grin plastered on my face. I've rode it around 6 times right now & it's still a blast every time.

I might have some bias since I ADORE the Guardians movie & getting to be in their world is a joy. The part after the pre-show where you're walking along & the theme song is blasting is the closest I've felt to "being" a superhero in a ride.

The various songs that play give the ride a lot of reridability. You get the surprise of what song plays & then the specific song sort of changes the vibe of the ride.

Lousy items:
(1)"Screens, why did it have to be screens"
Not one mechanical, 3-dimensional animated figure.
$500 million budget and yet feels like $200 million ride, such an extremely poor use of money
(2) pre show videos be corny and an embarrassment with the worst script and acting this side of Arnold Jackson Drummond and Screech doing their thing on Different Strokes and Saved by Bell
(3) queue ain't so great either.....far cry from Flight of Passage, Pirates, Rise and Yeti

Great items:
(1) smoothest coaster ride vehicles ever built. Such a comfortable ride and cool looking train
(2) soundtracks
(3) coaster track layout and its length impress

To be honest, other than the few reviews in this thread, I haven't read one positive thing about it. The majority of reviews I've read said it's extremely loud, discombobulating and it makes a lot of people feel sick, ranging from mild all the way up to vomiting and having to leave the park and spending the rest of the day at their hotel.

I live between Great Adventure in NJ and Hersheypark and been on all those insane coasters. The sensation I felt during GotG was unlike anything else I've experienced.

But as always, your mileage may vary.
I know precisely what you're saying. I didn't have a "roller coaster" feel while riding it. It reminded me more of Harry Potter Hogsmeade. It was the same sensation.
