I've always found Mission BO to be a very Universal Studios type of attraction. Its fun, themeing and story are passable, but the thing lacks magic or heart. Its like a variation on Transformers for me. TOT was the best attraction at the Resort IMO. To lose something I found to be such an achievement was a huge let down, especially after DCA's rebirth. I haven't been back to DCA in quite awhile as the current attractions just don't deliver on the Disney magic to me. They're fun, but they're just a more polished version of Knotts or Universal. If DCA was $50-$70 a ticket, I might be more inclined to visit.

If they offered a Disneyland only AP for even 70% of the current price Id have no reason to go. I’d probably treat it like USH and go once every 4-5 years. I enjoy Soarin but it’s going back to world soon. I appreciate RSR but it’s not that fun for me. I really like GRR but it’s rare that everything is lined up perfectly for me to ride it. ( Weather, party’s willingness to get soaked etc.) Incredicoaster is a fun coaster but I only really enjoy riding it at night and it’s rarely possible with WOC.

I think the only thing I really, truly find magical at DCA is the entirety of Cars Land. Everything else has either remained stagnant (at it's average core), or taken a turn for the worse.

Cars Land is great and I appreciate it in the same way I appreciate RSR. But I have no urge to hang out there and that goes for most of DCA. Outside of Paradise Gardens. Almost every land at DL has a place where I enjoy taking in the atmosphere, eating, listening to music etc..

So, I finally went on Mission Breakout...

And... I think it's better than DCA's Tower of Terror. It's strangely different with its pacing, but I appreciate that the actual ride system is utilized more. It successfully makes it feel like an actual different ride and not a half-hearted clone.

I like it a lot, I rode it more than I've ever felt inclined to ride DCA's or WDSP's Tower of Terror.

I bought the t-shirt.

I don't think I want DHS's to change, but I am very glad DCA's did.

I couldn't agree more.

EDIT: oh ya forgot to mention the it’s deemed expendable by many because it doesn’t live up to the TOT in DHS. To that I always say “looks like POTC at MK’s gotta go.”

Precisely, I have a lot of biases that slant me one way and others obviously another.

I love this argument because non-combatively I personally wouldn’t mind if they got rid of MK’s Pirates, as sacrilegious as that may be. I’m not joking, Shanghai showed me what a purpose built attraction does. However MK should have received its Western River attraction in lieu.

The only problem now is MK has far bigger fish to fry and it would be a bit of a waste of money.

The longer the ride is around, the more I have to reluctantly concede that I like it.

It doesn't fit, it's ugly, and I think the TOT was a better overall attraction.

HOWEVER, the CA version of TOT was always a pale imitation of the WDW version and MB is distinctive, different, and more thrilling. If the one in Paris remains unaltered, it's also kind of cool to have four distinct takes on the same basic attraction.

Maybe riding it repeatedly with my friend last year (who was obsessed with it) wore me down?

“This other park in another part of the country did it better so let’s destroy this still good attraction for something not as good but at least unique” is the dumbest take.

I agree but I guess if you are someone that travels to all the Disney parks often it’s a nice perk. But In general and for the majority of people (especially those that live near Disneyland) it’s dumb.

Mission Breakout definitely made me see the disconnect amongst fans. Some are local people who enjoy the parks they have and take interest in Disney parks as a whole while others devote their lives and money to the The Product.

You forgot the other 28 fan categorizations!

The locals are actually way too close to the product. In all senses of the word. Orlando people maybe more so as their main industry is basically tourism and parks.

I know I'm in the minority, but I did greatly prefer the revamped DCA version over the original. It flowed much better and some of the minor changes (swapping the floating black and white window for the elevator with drop scare) really focused the attraction on the ghost story rather than entering into a TV show's opening title sequence. I love ending with the same Bellhop. The original obviously had the better queue and facade, but I did really enjoy the changes they brought to the DCA version.

If they were going to retheme the tower, on which I agree with the opinion being brought up that the California version benefited from some wise alterations in the ride despite a much lesser tower and grounds, I wish they had just picked a better property. I know it's not popular, but I find Guardians to be consistently one of the more annoying Marvel franchises.

I'll admit I prefer Tower of Terror's original theming to the redo.

They did make a strange choice with Guardians of the Galaxy, a series I've never watched and have no intention of ever watching. I'm still of the opinion they shouldn't have even changed it, but the ride itself is more fun.

There.

Not really. It’s all downhill from the initial shot up. Everything from there on are a series of smaller drops and not one that goes the entire distance of the shaft as it did in TOTs finale. TOT built up to something. The best part of MB is Rocket starting the music and the initial shot up.
