That was my experience too earlier this month (last week of Sept/first week Oct). During the week the ILL was pretty much an immediate return time, but on the weekends the return times would be hours away or sold out already. VQ also lasted much longer on weekdays.

Wednesdays also historically had the longest available VQ windows. It's had the most days when the afternoon 1pm drop lasted until park close!

Also I would've just grabbed a morning VQ spot then switched my park reservation to whatever your true first park would be. The BG pass doesn't get invalidated or anything, and it's usable any time of the day once called, perfect for once your hop over to Epcot.
Obviously this neat trick/hack won't last for long with park reservations going the wayside soon.

Hi can I please clarify this - are you saying that if you get a boarding group in the VQ and ignore the callback time you can join and ride anytime you like that day? I thought you HAD to go at callback time and it is checked by a cast member?

Correct. They do not enforce the callback times for Guardians. So once your BG is called, you can redeem it at any time before park close. The CMs at the entrance will waive you through if you come after your given return window.

For Tron, they do enforce callback times.

This is really useful to know. Because on New Year’s Eve I don’t plan to go to Epcot early as I think it’ll just be ram packed all day anyway. I thought I’d just go after lunch for the party but if I can get a VQ at 7 am and just go whenever I want this would be great. Although I guess I’ll have to get lucky as it’ll go quick on this day. I am so nervous about these VQs having never done it. It feels stressful if coming over for a trip of a lifetime from the UK to know if you mess up in the first 5 seconds or your signal drops or something then you have lost the chance to ride. Oh how I wish you could just buy a premier access pass like at Disneyland Paris!
