Two of our party members will probably go back to the hotel to take a quick nap and come back later while my wife and I will not. I wanted to make sure I could get the VQ for all 4 of us if I was the only one in the park (I am managing all of our reservations, etc.)

For the 1pm Virtual Queue, all guests who will want to ride will need to have tapped into EPCOT at some point before 1pm. As long as everyone has tapped into the park, you can join from anywhere.

The entire party needs to have entered the park at some point before 1PM but assuming you came to Epcot in the morning and went back to the hotel, nobody would need to physically be in the park. The only requirement is that you entered the park earlier that day.

Yes, after they tap in they can book the VQ and then leave and come back to ride.

Although they will possibly honor it, just a heads up. Sometimes your time shoots up so fast your boarding group can come by a lot sooner than it originally told you.

They almost always let you ride. I've gotten a group at 7AM and not gone until after 5pm and never had a problem.

Same experience for me but fair to let them notice.

This also points to VQ not really being a necessity for the attraction.
