They shoulda just Kirby-d it. Can’t go wrong with the King as your reference.

Also - Eson in the first GotG looks nothing like Thanos, unless they just meant he was vaguely humanoid.

One of my favorite bits of theme park trivia is that Howard the Duck has (indirectly) produced a major theme park attraction - the films failure encouraged Universal to launch the first HHN.

I was confused my that larger thanos part of the quote as well.

Also yes. HHN owes a lot to Howard The Duck and Jaws not working in Orlando.

... had to steal a fairly common appliance from a not-particularly-advanced civilization to carry out his very haphazard evil scheme.
Wait, are the Xandarians not advanced? They have a massive galactic federation and obviously best or match most of their neighbors considering they had the power and resources to wage a war that lasted a millennium or so. Sure, the Celestials and Eternals can threaten them, but they can threaten basically everyone in the Marvel universe.

I also think it's silly that the cosmic generator can be utilized in such a way, but it's a common plot device in sci-fi that power sources can be manipulated in non-standard ways through technobabble to allow time travel. It's difficult to count the number of times Star Trek abused warp cores (standard on every ship) to travel through time and create or collapse alternate dimensions.

Forbidden Journey was 85 million in 2010. Space Mountain meets Gringotts meets Test Track 2.0 with a bit of Ironman from WDSP was 450 million ish.

Go figure.

Egos and deep pockets without the guest benefit there should be.

My 1996 Cadillac hearse(Universal) gets more attention and stands out more than the neighbor who bought a Porche(Disney)

Uni knows and works with those good principles that typically benefit guest experience.

It's the same pattern as the guardians ToT in DCA.

The general 'fun' appeal of the experience itself overshadows any consideration for what the attraction means in the grander scheme.

It's like eating cupcakes for dinner... tastes great.. everyone loves 'em... but doesn't make them a good fit for dinner.

You don't want just a place with random great rides. We call that Cedar Point. Throwing away the other supporting elements that make a theme park great will only weaken it. And you don't tend to age well just eating cupcakes.

...use this to match it to the space theme...

I think this idea could have merit/be expanded on. The show building is right behind Mission: SPACE so designing the side of the building which faces into the park to either be a physical or painted representation of the X-2 space shuttle launch tower would be pretty neat, especially when looking at it from across the World Showcase lagoon.

I hadn't considered the issue others have brought up, that an overly "show-y" show building could distract from Spaceship Earth. I'm not sure I entirely agree with this notion considering on my most recent trip it stuck out like a sore thumb anyways, but a happy compromise would likely be to leave the side of the building facing the parking lots unthemed. This would keep your attention focused on Spaceship Earth as you enter the park during the morning and it doesn't need any help drawing attention at night while it's lighting up.

We had that happen on our 2nd ride, but after "We've seen weirder things, Quill", we sat there for just over 5 1/2 minutes in silence before the reverse launch started (without warning).
Yeah it seems like the holding audios are only good for around 10-15 secs of stoppage, similar to ROTR. Anything beyond that you sit there in silence or the background soundtrack playing. Probably unload holding up the trains at the various brake holds.

Hopefully these quirks can be worked out quickly!

Hey now, I like Mission: Breakout quite a lot. (Just don't try to bring it to MGM!)

I think one very interesting question will be whether M:B or CR is the better GotG attraction. I haven't ridden CR, so I can't speak to the physical experience or the exact details of the visuals in the box, but based on queue, preshow, tone, aesthetics, characters, and plot, M:B has a big, big lead. It certainly feels like the more "GotG" GotG ride. Plus it has a couple AAs (including one really good one) and the queue features Cosmo the Spacedog AND Stan Lee, which is a big advantage. It would be a rather searing indictment if, with $450 million and six years or so, Disney couldn't top the hasty reskin of the lackluster copy of ToT.

Question for those who've ridden:

Do they provide an explanation of why there's 70s/80s music on the ride?

For example, in Mission: Breakout, you see Rocket grab the Walkman during the preshow, and you see his shadow plug in the Walkman at the beginning of the ride. Unfortunately, this does a pretty bad job, as I think most people don't catch those moments (or at least don't catch the first one). Hopefully, Cosmic Rewind does a better job with providing some noticeable reason why there's 70s/80s music, because otherwise the music would be a weird immersion-breaker for sure.

Wasn't Joe Rohde the lead in Mission: Breakout? If so, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it's a better GotG attraction.

Hmm, TT could be rethemed as a space based story ride and fit right in.

Another thought: if one of the big jokes is how Quill is stuck in the 1980s and he expects Epcot to be just as it was when he was a kid (which i suspect was a low key dig at Epcot purists like myself, but whatever), why did they pass up the opportunity to use the one 1980s Epcot song that would have brought it all together?
