I’ve never done the Teacups.
When I was a kid, I rode the Teacups twice in a row with my older brother. On the second ride, he spun it so fast that I got sick. It was late at night and we had been there all day. Needless to say, my whining was off the charts. My brother got so tired of my whining that he punched me in the stomach. Nausea immediately turned to protein spill and crying. Ah, yes. Disney Magic.

Another devil's advocate point...those upset about the view from the parking lot should be equally as upset, if not more upset, of the views of Pandora from the buses. Giant warehouse with rocks on sticks is your first view of Animal Kingdom. Less than ideal.
Going to Animal Kingdom, seeing both Pandora from the buses and the backside of FoP/River Journey as you enter the parking lot really takes me out of it. I'm surprised WDW didn't take the time to at least paint the backside of FoP/River Journey to the "Go Away Green" color.

You have been able to see the Swan and Dolphin in World Showcase since the late 80s, the Soarin show building since the mid-2000s, etc.

You make it sound like this is a giant step down in immersion to have a futuristically themed show building visible in Future World. Eh, not really.

And this is coming from someone who is only moderately looking forward to this attraction.
Prefinished insulated metal panels are futuristic theming?

I hope some of it landed on your brother to teach him a lesson!

I do think it’s interesting that they can build something like space mountain or Tron or hide stuff with floating mountains...but for good ol Epcot they opt for the “big blue saltine box”...
Hey, using logos and trademarked images works in TSL, why not in Epcot as well?

Damn, there goes my “For our pleasure” quip!

On a serious note, I am very curious too and await more informed answers.

ETA in response to your ETA: The ribbing does appear to get noticeably more pronounced, though, so I don’t think you’re entirely wrong.
I think what you’re noticing is something that’s meant to be peeled off after installation.

Yes, the edges are peeling up. The lower ones already have the coating removed, so you're just seeing clean seams. That's how it all looks to me anyway.

But there appears to be some sort of texture even on the lower panels. At any rate, I do hope you're right and the overall finish will be smooth.

Considering Stan Lee's very sad passing today, I hope they filmed his cameo for this attraction. That would presumably make this attraction his final appearance.
Reportedly there's been many filmed for further movies and attractions.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Solo and do some digital necromancy for the future (assuming that was what Stan wanted)

My money is on them peeling the wraps on that cladding to reveal the worlds largest Stars and Stripes.
It would be so preposterous it would completely blend in.
