Disney wants to be more green. New solar panels on a building designed for them would have still helped with that.
A lot of green and sustainable ideas, particularly those in regards to building, are old if not ancient. Just because an idea is old doesn’t mean it would not make things better.Slow to implement tech from 1884 (that is not a typo) is not exactly something for "Future World."
A Brief History of Solar Panels
Inventors have been advancing solar technology for more than a century and a half, and improvements in efficiency and aesthetics keep on comingwww.smithsonianmag.com
I keep trying to teach my older son that "new" isn't necessarily always better.A lot of green and sustainable ideas, particularly those in regards to building, are old if not ancient. Just because an idea is old doesn’t mean it would not make thing better.
Better for the world for certain. I was talking about Future World wherein I'd like to know about 22nd century ideas. And to be clear, I want solar panels on the Guardians building, but the same way I also want them on the Mexico building and over the parking lot.A lot of green and sustainable ideas, particularly those in regards to building, are old if not ancient. Well, they chose to make the ride entrance and building to a Guardians look - not one that looks like Peter Quill stumbled upon the original UoE ride. How do solar panels NOT fit the aesthetic of "Peter Quill visited EPCOT Center as a kid in the 1980s"?
I was just watching a family video from January of 2019 and the building is essentially complete on the exterior. I know we're all complaining about the TRON build time, but this hasn't exactly been speedy either.Well, they chose to make the ride entrance and building to a Guardians look - not one that looks like Peter Quill stumbled upon the original UoE ride.
Sure, but it has a bigger budget and is an original concept, not a clone.I was just watching a family video from January of 2019 and the building is essentially complete on the exterior. I know we're all complaining about the TRON build time, but this hasn't exactly been speedy either.
Guardians budget is insane. Here's hoping it lives up to that price tag and the visual intrusion.Sure, but it has a bigger budget and is an original concept, not a clone.
I’m expecting an excellent coaster but I can’t explain the budget.Guardians budget is insane. Here's hoping it lives up to that price tag and the visual intrusion.

I understand inflation, but I frame this as “4 1/2 Everests”I've forgotten the actual number, but I bet it's not that surprising when thinking about Disney costs overall. They did spend $100+ million to build the Little Mermaid ride. Why Disney costs are so high in general is baffling, of course.
We have contractors on here, I'm sure some of them could estimate the price of the giant warehouse. I believe we're expecting around 5000 feet of coaster track and a $450 million budget.I’m expecting an excellent coaster but I can’t explain the budget.
Which is really wild when you consider how Everest spent millions to carve a building that looks like a Mountain, and Guardians gave us IKEA's taller sibling. Can't pretend they blew the money on the exterior.I understand inflation, but I frame this as “4 1/2 Everests”
There is only one IKEA at Disney World and it does not reside in EPCOTWhich is really wild when you consider how Everest spent millions to carve a building that looks like a Mountain, and Guardians gave us IKEA's taller sibling. Can't pretend they blew the money on the exterior.
Didn't Radiator Springs Racers cost 300 Million? Meanwhile they built 3 Acres of Cadillac Mountain Range and a thrilling, Animatronics-laden E-Ticket with that money . . .
If the Show Elements for the Guardians coaster aren't brain-bustingly off the charts I'll have to issue a vote of No Confidence in Imagineering.
Now I understand why it is taking so long to build. The GRIDüken model only comes with one Allen wrench. Everything must be hand-tightened--no power tools! It also uses 11,534,263 wooden dowels. There is only one IKEA at Disney World and it does not reside in EPCOTView attachment 613518
Great picture there. More work than I would have put into it!There is only one IKEA at Disney World and it does not reside in EPCOTView attachment 613518
The entrance really doesn’t have a Guardians look at all. If you showed the current building to someone unfamiliar with the project and asked them what franchise it represented. I don’t think many could answer - even with the badly applied symbol.Well, they chose to make the ride entrance and building to a Guardians look - not one that looks like Peter Quill stumbled upon the original UoE ride.
Its definitely a decorated shed, not a duck, and the decoration probably makes more people think of Captain Marvel. The entrance really doesn’t have a Guardians look at all.
