When did I ever say that Marvel doesn't exist? My point is that you cannot treat Marvel as 'just some IP' when it is just as much a Disney IP as Tron, Rat, or Frozen.

ME: Marvel and Disney are separate brands owned by the same company. They are not interchangable terms. Saying Universal just built a new Marvel ride is not the same thing as Universal just built a new Disney ride.

YOU:
No, there isn't. Marvel is a Disney property. When they add Marvel, they are adding Disney. If you're going to say its 'not interchangable', then who gets to decide whats Disney and what isn't? Does Pixar count?

So are you going to continue arguing with me that they are interchangable, or can we say they are different brands that represent different franchises (even though all the money kicks back to Disney)?

That's actually exactly what I'm taking about.. see the restraints? You're in a coffin type thing..there's flying kid rides like that.. your stomach/chest/legs are on a flat surface.

I didn't think that's what you were referring to..or how that would work with the load patent.. but yeah, that style would be able to accommodate more people.

Disney's "thing" lately has been to take off the shelf rides, and come up with new vehicles for them (swinging cars on 7DMT, the restraints on TRON, as examples). But I expect it will be at least as accessible as RnRRC at 48".

The goal should be to make it better.

The issue is the concept of "better" means different things to different people.

Some people hated the quasi-science centre theme and just want to go on rides, so to them, this is indeed better. Some loved EPCOTs overarching theme and do not view deviations from it as "better".

If we like the change or not, it is happening, but some people will not be happy about it, and rightfully so they vent on a discussion forum about this topic.

Those aren't "off the shelf" rides though. They're custom track layouts. An off the shelf coaster would be an exact clone of an existing coaster. Primeval Whirl is "off the shelf."

like rock n roller coaster.

As far as "off the shelf" I meant standard ride track, system, etc. Vekoma can sell you a boxed ride, or build to suit, but they are both coming out of the same set of parts, so to speak. Nothing new in terms of track or launch systems, or coaster types.

But each can be, and is, a very different experience. Launch/lift hill/wooden/steel/inverted/etc etc. you can have similar ride designs tweaked to be very different. Then you also have just strictly copy cat rides.

I think Disney will try to make GotG a little unique.. what hurts Disney is that they have to stay in theme even when visible from accords the park, so they're a little limited by that.

I would still love to see a recreation of one of my favorite rides ever. Keep hoping that WDW or IoA will do it.. but I doubt it based on capacity. They would have to build 3-4 theaters. But this type of ride would be perfect in that space!!

I don't even understand how Disney is getting away with using Marvel characters in Orlando. These characters have been around in the Marvel Universe since the 1970s and some of them (Groot and Starlord) I believe go back to the 1960s. Gamora and Mantis are even closely associated with the Avengers. Frankly even using Big Hero 6, regardless of how different they made it from the comics, was a breach of contract.

Universal should sue.

I suspect this ride is going to be mostly, if not entirely, indoors. I don't think it's going to be skyline impacting beyond the height balloons that were previously flown in the area. I think if anything, you are going to see another sky painted show building, like Soarin.
