"Arguments" here are like land wars in Asia. There's never really a winnerYou guys are resorting to insults because I won the argument
Yes Captian Chaos, the MK must expand. Must fill the bank account. So, Epcot really is going to be made into MK 2.0.
I had a moment where I thought the Imagineers read one of my messages and took an idea from it, turned out to be indigestion.Seems like Disney read my March 23 post when @WDW1974 reported that DHS's Tower Of Terror was the target of a potential GotG overlay.
Quoting part of it:
Seems to me that a better home for this is Epcot's Future World. The Wonders of Life Pavilion sits empty most days. Why not use it? (Can anyone say "Guardians of the Galaxy Pavilion"?) After all, once Pandora and the DHS redo are complete, Epcot is the theme park that will need the most TLC.
After all, doesn't Xandar kinda remind you of Future World:

I almost never delve into creative matters at WDW. However, it's nice to know Disney listens to me when I do.
You speak a lot of truth there. So, Guardians of the Galaxy is present day. Much of the rest of Future World has nothing to do with our future....Sometimes pavilions aren't even coherent. Maybe it should be re-organized into smaller sub-sections? I've just finished mourning the EPCOT of my youth and have now moved onto trying to think of a way these things could be made thematically tenable. Never mind. If they don't give a ****, I don't either. This is great!
A really cool update to the energy pavilion wouldn't be that hard. I think they know that. I suppose the concern is that the consumer would only come check it out if it was tied into something popular, something of the moment. *sigh* I'm with @sshindel - done thinking about this place. Y'all can have the thread.
LEST WE FORGET RAISING THE TICKET PRICES ONCE OR TWICE A YEARMaking money, and provide a high quality, well though out, and cohesively themed environment are not mutually exclusive. Disney didn't get where they are today by catering to every whim of the public, the did it by providing experiences that went beyong what the public ever imagined.
I thought the MK had a few extra acres surrounding the park? Did that get sold off??I don't think SWL would fit MK. However, as it is now DHS is the catch-all, for IP-based attractions. All IP's are movies so it fits in DHS.
I wish DHS could be the acquired IP park, (Pixar, Lucas, Marvel), but with GotG going to Epcot all hope is lost.
I liked it when Disney World had themed parks, not just themed attractions. When I walk down Sunset Blvd and find an authentic hotel, I get goosebumps, when I step to the left somehow Aerosmith is there.
Epcot/Future World needs innovation and technology, not IP's.
The photo itself or the plaque? I think the plaque is from the little 25th anniversary museum they had back in '07.Where did this photo come from?
DEPENDS.... with that firm answer said, as I recall the UOE building is huge. On the other hand, the UOE building as seen from the outside is RECOGNISABLE on site. They will have to make an incredible facade to make guests think GALAXIE and not Universe. Besides, the original building cost a fortune and it would be cheaper to just ad a wing if they needed it.So would this new attraction be inside the existing UOE building or would there be a new building?
And Western River? And Switzerland? And Crime Stoppers?
Plans change.
Perhaps you would prefer "this is progressing rapidly"?right so its not a good idea to make statements like "this is happening" so matter of factly. Just from observing the company for years I feel like this is a longshot like that Incredibles ride that was all set to bulldoze Carousel of Progress and the TL Theater back in the mid 2000s.
Alternative to what? Like as in the safari could go away? No. Surly not. Did I misread that?Perhaps you would prefer "this is progressing rapidly"?
Obviously until there is an announcement, things could change. It is clear that Disney is hell-bent on giving us a GotG ride. If not here, I'm told the only remaining alternative would be Kilimanjaro Safaris.
Remember when Disney threatened to remove Toontown in DL to build SWL and people balked so they decided to remove half of Rivers of America and TSI instead?

REALLY? The ROCKET RODS were a fast save to use the old tracks in DL that the People mover used. The old PPL mover equipment was demoed and a track put down for the Rocket Rods. NOW imagine the sites when you were on the people mover moving about 3 miles an hour. NOW imagine those same sites in a ROCKET ROD moving about 30 miles an hour.... Here comes Space Mountain, oh, its gone, theres the Space Port, oh that's gone too, rides over.....I missed the part of WDW's history where they had the Rocket Rods, refresh my memory. Even still, Rocket Rods was a lazy execution and a mediocre ride. There's been plenty of that at Disney parks throughout the years.
From another post....
Thoughts on this?
And, more significantly, they destroyed the PeopleMover structure and guests still get to see the carcass of PeopleMover in the park to this day. At least Frozen won't cause permanent, irreparable damage.REALLY? The ROCKET RODS were a fast save to use the old tracks in DL that the People mover used. Maybe on the outside. Inside on the other hand, I'm not so sure about.I know it seems crazy given current decisions but I think Disney is actually smart enough to NOT touch spaceship earth. Its actually the icon.
And of course, Cocoa Cola and Pepsi, lolYes. This. It's not going to be like Epcot anymore.
More like....that park with the giant golf ball, and those major hit movie attractions. Oh and some countries.
It's just not going to have a rhyme or reason I feel. But I guess I should wait and see before hardcore judging.
I was joking...Alternative to what? Like as in the safari could go away? No. Surly not. Did I misread that?
Let's make something plain--this is different from Time Racer and the like. When Bob Iger gets in his head that an IP of which he arranged the acquisition should be added to the parks, it is. He wants Marvel in the parks and Beautiful Bob Chapek has found "suitable" sites.
