But you are making the connection based on what the building used to be, not any tangible property of the building that makes is particularly suitable to a health related theme. Imagination died a long time ago.

It died a slow and painful death that continues to this day on life support of how pathetic one former great pavilion can be.... At least the others they just closed and let them die in peace without people walking through them.

Guardians in WOL? When Inside out could actually save and make that pavilion work. Why?

When the pavilion has been dead for ages... Why even bother trying to connect anything to the old theme as a requirement? There is nothing left but a dirty old dome. That's the only thing you need to fit... And the grad scheme of the park.

WoL is long gone. Majority of guests probably never even experienced that old hag

Hopefully when they make the GOTG announcement for Epcot something else will be announced to help create a more cohesive theme at the front of the park. If you're going to finally put the nail in the Epcot's coffin than you better replace it with something that at least has a cohesive theme and great attractions even if it doesn't make sense with the what Epcot center was. D23 next summer will be intriguing to say the least

Is it your impression that they do have a master plan? Or that these changes are relatively random, addressing tactical, short-term problems?

And I fully understand if you can't answer this but would really appreciate if you can :)
There's a long term plan. It won't touch every corner of the park, and I dare say some things that need help won't get it, but there is quite a bit proposed.

So as I'm still catching up on this thread. I am wondering if pivoting from the future which quickly becomes dated and costs a lot of money to keep relevant, to hot IP of the moment is really an improvement from Disney or shareholders perspective. While it's easier for an animated picture to become beloved and withstand the test of time, the same can not really be said for the live-action movies. Actors age, and you are reminded of how far in the past a film was made when you see them then vs now. Digital technology, music choices, hairstyles, costumes etc. They all can end up making a project feel old vs timeless.

If we had a park of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Davy Crockett, the Mouseketeers, Spin & Marty, Haley Mills characters, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience franchise, and the other most popular live action films, despite it's original success people wouldn't be lining up around the block, because people have moved on. Or take a look at the comments thrown Universal's way about their IP lineup. Shrek was HUGE and now it's dated and worth snickering about. Mummy was successful, but now it feels so 2001. Terminator 2 vs a geriatric Schwarzeneggar. GotG has a shelf life, even if we don't know what it is. Given the fact that Disney feels like they have to wait until something is already a success to put it in a theme park, and given their construction timelines, it seems like this strategy has them chasing their own tail just as much as "the future" did. By the time this project gets built, it's even closer to the point of irrelevancy. Same for just about every IP they could use, people will always be asking themselves, why isn't there X here "hot project of the moment" and laugh at Y "movie that has hot 15 years ago." Yeah, you might sell a lot of toys for the first 3 years, but not nearly as much as it will cost to refresh it with the next hot movie.

THIS is a well thought argument.
Thank you for presenting it logically and well supported; rather than bashing Disney for replacing an ancient snooze fest.

Wait...what... the Monuments are going away? What happens to my daughters picture? She has a great spot too..staring right at spaceship earth. this sucks.
From what I understand, they would be relocated elsewhere on property. That program had a 15 year lifespan from when you signed up. The program did not end until mid 2000s, so many folks still have years left. According to the contract Disney can relocate them but not destroy them until the 15 years is up from the last person who signed up.

As always, if I'm mistaken, someone please correct me.

Edit: Martin beat me to it! :)

The Leave a Legacy tombstones will be moved to a new location or removed completely. They were never intended to be permanent.

And a dusty Cranium Command theater

That'd be me. And for me it's "that empty building" :)
Body Wars was great at first, but then became less cutting edge as ride tech moved on and it wasn't updated. It needed a Star Tours II style upgrade. Cranium Command was hilarious. And it was a pavilion that wasn't just one attraction and you're out. Like the Seas, you could spend a signficant amount of time there. There were two real attractions, a number of exhibits, and a couple smaller mini-attractions (Making of Me and a little live theater thing). It was well done, I thought.

So I'm at work, but I think I've been adequately keeping up with this thread-apologies if this has been answered, but is Inside-Out actually proposed to take over Imagination, or is this a bit of speculation and armchair Imagineering at this point?

Really hoping for the latter, and the return of Dreamfinder, but you can give it to me straight, I can take it.

Regardless of what happens to Imagination, I'd assume Dr. Nigel Channing will likely be disappearing if an overhaul is indeed happening. Silver linings, I guess.

Worst pavilion in Epcot. You didn't miss much. It felt dated practically as soon as it opened and was pretty bland from the start.
I liked it better than Mission:Space; better than the 2nd and 3rd versions of Imagination, on par with Energy, and better than many WS pavilions , partcularly the ones that are literally just shopping and eating (looking at you, UK, Germany, Italy).

The "other site" that posted that Mission Space story is hilarious. Their latest story says that after talking again to other sources it will be at the GOTG overlay will be at Universe of Energy and not Mission Space. I'm not accusing them of anything but I think ol Tom C considers this thread and @wdwmagic his new sources. haha
