Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Energy Pavilion at Epcot

There's a big 'ole mountain of space sitting there, needing big refurbishment, right along side (to the north) is a lot of empty, and next to that is some sort of 'ride' powered by early 20th century 'technology'. There is a Big Future possible in Tomorrowland
TL;DR: GotG would ruin Tomorrowland too.
I really don't want SM and CoP to go... nor do I want ToT, UoE, or WoL to go... Bob Iger NEEDS to STOP. He's done lots of damage to the company, and now, instead of existing to entertain people, DisCo only exists to make money...

Sounds like TOT is safe in Florida. WOL is already gone. Energy, whats there isnt that great. Wish they could go back to the roots and kick Ellen out, but I think the days of a 40 minute ride are over.

It's part of what makes it the whole situation so frustrating: for those of us who remember and/or fondly look back on original EPCOT Center faire, Ellen really was never all that great an overlay, and the lack of anything at WoL is has been a big complaint for years. One would think that any sort of progress, any sort of attention would be welcomed, but again, it's the frustration of "You know that park concept that did really well and was considered a rousing success and is still one of the top drawing theme parks even in its current dilapidated state? Yeah, we're just going to steamroll that, baby goes out with the bathwater" settling in.

They were something weren't they? Horizons, WoM, Imagination, SE, were all 14 to 18 min rides, except Energy being longer. (maybe SE still is but doesnt feel like it since so much has changed and not for the better) I dont think we will see the likes of that type of attraction system ever again with large pavilions filled with perfected detailed show scenes that surrounded you and nearly 20min omnimovers.

Of course attention spans and patience levels have sadly gone down the drain as well. But they were creative and technical marvels that I don't think today's Disney could accomplish if they even tried. I'm thankful I got to grow up in Epcot during that golden age, Im just sad the park has lost its sense of wonderment, vision, and spirit. Instead becoming more about food, wine, beer, and IP's = Chapekcot.

Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland is already pretty messed up. And it doesn't even have to be CoP that could go for a new attraction. That's what the Speedway is for.

How good are the chances of phase 2 GOTG in WOL? Somehow I doubt it due to the past history of phase two's. Also I wouldn't mind if some of the new stuff would open in 2022 for epcots 40th as kind of a finale to all of the additions and renovations. As it is I have a feeling that will be a break year after MK 50th

Speedway moves to TT to round out the pavilion and finally we get some theming to the outdoor section of TT and have a ride for kids who can't ride TT.
The new GotG ride goes in the Speedway's spot instead of UoE to help with MK capacity.
UoE gets replaced with a new Energy themed pavilion and WoL gets the Weather pavilion.

Not the best scenario, but better than what is currently on the table.

But then we won't have Test Track.

Hey, if we want to be pointing fingers, I say we should point them at Bob Chapek. I fear that his rule as WDP&R chairman will basically be a giant repeat of the Pressler years. Seriously, why would you hire a guy whose previously experience was Merchandising to run your theme park?

Try listening to the narration. It's a documentary

I may not go that far, but it was a ride that included Scandinavian music, folklore, animals, industry, and a small Norwegian town at the end, not to mention the Spirit of Norway film. It may not have been explicitly educational, but a ton of World Showcase has always been able travelogues and attracting people to have interest in other countries and cultures, and Maelstrom/Spirit of Norway did a good job on that front. It was just never the E ticket it was originally hyped as.

I don't think changing SM ride show to modern current hip trendy whatever movie is the way to go either. That's why I suggested something far more fundamental like a journey into/through a black hole - is why I had mentioned that movie earlier, for its SETTING, a black hole, the ship exploring it ect. NOT a literal presentation of that movie.

I think Tomorrowland, Innovations, etc need to be more than tied to individual IP at every turn. Large, expansive overriding concepts, _tomorrow's possible futures_ not today's popular movies. CoP, the 'tomorrow' section is past its prime. Overall, I'm ambivalent on the attraction - I try not to be come emotionally invested, attached to any of this. Nothing is permanent.

Forbidden site's speculating that a formal announcement might happen at Comic-Con's Marvel Studios panel.

I thought about that since GOTG 2 will be shown however its way more likely that they will announce it at D23 next year because they need something big for their Parks presentation and Iger seems to like to announce stuff around a movies release to generate maximum hype immersion (Like he did with Star Wars Land announcement shortly before the movie came out last year).

If they go forward with that Tower of Terror overlay for DCA that is far more likely to be announced. Maybe even a "Guardians Weekends" season event.

It's one of a few proposals. If the pavilion goes they won't need event storage space!

Besides, the queue was a test area for Fastpass Plus. Something had to be done with it. May as well make use of it.

Sadly.

In those proposals would WoL become another Guardians of the Galaxy attraction or would it be an unrelated IP?
