IT'S A VERY NICE HOTEL. I STAYED THERE A FEW YEARS AGO. GREAT LOCATION, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM DOWNTOWN DISNEY (YOU CAN WALK ACROSS THE STREET AND YOU ARE THERE)- BUT AND THIS IS A BIG BUT- RENT A CAR AND DRIVE TO THE PARKS BECAUSE THEIR BUS SYSTEM STINKS! THEY ARE NOT DISNEY BUSES AND GETTING OUT OF THE PARKS AT NIGHT WAS A NIGHTMARE. WHAT YOU CAN DO IS WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO THE MARKETSTREET AND USE DISNEY BUSES. YOU WOULD TAKE A BUS TO ONE OF THE HOTELS AND THEN GRAB A MONORAIL OR ANOTHER BUS TO ONE OF THE PARKS. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU ARE LEAVING THE PARKS YOU GRAB A BUS TO THE MARKETPLACE THAT WILL DROP YOU OFF ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE HOTEL, BUT BE MINDFUL OF THE TIME BECAUSE IF THE MARKETPLACE IS CLOSED THEY DROP YOU OFF PAST THE MARKETPLCE TO PLEASUSE ISLAND AND YOU NEED TO WALK BACK A FEW BLOCKS TO THE HOTEL. THIS ISN'T A HUGE DEAL BUT I HAD MY NIECE AND NEPHEW WHO WERE SLEEPING AND NO STROLLER! I HAD TO CARRY THEM AND IT WASN'T PRETTY.
THE HOTEL HAS A NICE FEATURE- THERE IS A LARGE PORTION SECTIONED OFF WHERE YOU CAN BUY JUST ABOUT WHATEVER FOOD OR ITEMS YOU NEED.
THEY ALSO HAVE ROOMS OVERLOOKING DOWNTOWN DISNEY WHICH ARE VERY NICE.

HOPE THIS HELPS.......

Tinkershell, I just saw this thread! The Grosvenor is one of my favorite off-property hotels EVER, and I stay there every year when I visit WDW by myself. It has 2 pools, a children's wading pool, tennis courts, and a small playground. It's got a full-service restaurant (although the food is, admittedly, just ordinary - but if you're in a hurry, it's fine), and a 24-hour cafe in the lobby - perfect for those late-night "Mom, I'm STARVING!" moments. It's a very short walk from Downtown Disney, so you're close to lots of action and Disney magic. The bus service is something of a drawback, but if you're renting a car anyway, it's no problem. Also, it's considered an official Disney hotel when it comes to eligibility for buying tickets for E-ride nights - I bought my E-ride ticket in the gift shop in the lobby - very convenient.

Have fun!

Hi Figmentmom,

I am so pleased that this is one of your favourite hotels:sohappy:

I was really starting to get worried as I have been reading some reviews of it and they were not that good.

Thanks again for your reply

I'm staying there, too, in October. Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a good place to stay or not. But I think I've made a good decision, seeing that we'll spend a lot of time at DTD.

I have a couple questions if someone might be able to help me. How much is parking, and do you have to pay every time you come in and out? Also, is parking at all the parks free when you stay here?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, k9kris - I wasn't sure exactly what parking you were talking about, so I'll do my best. If you're talking about parking at the Grosvenor, you will get a magnetized parking pass to swipe every time you enter or exit the Grosvenor parking lot. The last two times I stayed there, there was no extra charge for parking; my room rate was the agreed-upon rate, with no added charge. Seems to me, though, that several years ago, I was charged a nominal parking fee for each day of my stay. You might want to call them and clarify that.

If you're talking about parking at the parks themselves, you're charged one parking fee for the entire day. If you park-hop and take your car, keep the receipt to show the attendant at your next park. Since I have an annual pass, parking is free, so I can't remember exactly how much parking is per day - $5 - $7? - I'm sure someone else will remember! We like to avoid dragging our car around with us, though, so we generally drive to the park we plan on ending the day at, and then take Disney transportation from there. For example, if you're pretty sure you're going to end your day with dinner at the World Showcase, park your car at EPCOT and then take the monorail to the MK, or a bus to whichever other park you want to see during the day. that just seems to work for us.

Have a great trip!:)

Yeah.... the Downtown Disney Resort's bus service really (with a capital S !! ) ... Sucked when I was there last week.... The drivers were either really rude or they barely spoke any english... ugh... never again

Next trip I am either staying at a monorail resort... or renting a car or both... :)

I have never stayed at this hotel but I know it is right across the street from Downtown Disney. I saw a couple of people say that their bus service blew. I would walk to Downtown Disney and use thier bus service then. It is usually pretty good and DD is a main hub so a bus comes by pretty often.
