I was hoping that some of you guys would have stayed at this holiday and could give me some information. Any tips as to what sort of room to request, what the restaurnat is like etc. would be welcome

Ah, Beauty! How are you? Growing up, I stayed at the Grosvenor with my family every year (we didn't have the cash for the Poly, unfortunately). I stayed there two years ago, and my parents were there last year. You want to be on one of the higher floors in the main building. The restaurant is good and has character breakfasts. It is cheaper than eating in the parks, and there is a cafe-like restaurant that is open all night, I think.

I love staying there, but for me it is filled with those ghosts of the past--images of my dad tying my little brother's bathing suit when my brother was 7, the cabana bar and drinking virgin fruit slushy drinks, and the walk across the street to what was the marketplace (now downtown disney) was wonderful. Have a great trip!

Hi Beauty and the. I have staid at the Grosvenor and I allways
ask for a Room on the same floor as the front desk over looking
the Pool. There is a deal if you can book on the CPor you can
call then at 1-800-624-4109 or www.grosvenorresort.com if
you didn't make your plans. I have staid at this Hotel for 16
years and the Buffet Breakfast is very good and a short walk
to Downtown Disney and good shopping.
There is a Bus to take you to the all the Parks. I will not kid
you some people do not like this Hotel but I love it the people
that work there are very helpful all you have to do is ask if you
don't like the room tell then. So I hope you have a good time I
am going to Disney World on Dec 7 and I will be staying at the
Grosvenor again this is will be my 21 year going to WDW.:)

We did three nights here one summer. We thought it was pretty important to get a tower room as high as you could. Watching the fireworks and seeing out over the WDW area was a nice thing to have. We had a lot of fun watching thunderstorms roll in and out that August. The pools were fine and rooms also fit what we needed for that trip. The price was alright, I think around $70.00 a night. We would stay there again for the right price.

I staid there in oct.99, we paid 120$ for night (too much I know now)
We were at the left wing of the building; there was a lot of noise (all the operating machines are on this side)
If you are staying there ask for a room on the other side or the main building.
The best thing of the hotel is that it is a short walk to dtd
The bus system is very slow they pick up clients from different hotels and to the parks grosvenor is the last pick-up, on your way back it is the last one to get off
Be careful with de air-co, one night I wanted to heat the room, because it was really cold
And the fire alarm went off (PANIC).:veryconfu
Not sure if I would stay there again, not for the price we paid...

I stayed there in July 2001. I would definately get a room in the tower as opposed to the garden wings. Our room had a view of downtown disney which was great. I didnt eat at the restaurant but the little counter service in the morning was very quick and was a pretty good price.

Later in the day, yes, but busses do not start serving Downtown Disney until 10 am, and generally do not have direct connections to the parks (I know there are a couple exceptions during select hours during the day...)--not very convenient in the morning.

Much faster to walk. The buses there used to be WDW buses, but now they have their own transportation system that is much slower. Walk across the street to the Marketplace and catch your buses there--believe me, I saved a LOT of time that way. :)

We stayed there a few years ago. It was part of a package deal with Virgin Atlantic and I think it was fairly expensive - I have got wise to the package deal now! The hotel was nice - but not as nice as I thought it might have been at the price. We got one of the rooms in the main building - definitely better than the ones in the wings, which didn't look great at all. One thing that I do remember was that the in room fridges were tiny!

My wife, son, and I stayed at the Grosvenor in December, 2002, and we paid about $105 for the room. The room was on a wing, and was nothing special. The room, while nice, wasn't worth what we paid. Having a VCR in-room was a nice feature. :D We were close to the pool, but the quite chilly weather prevented any pool noise. :) Getting from our room to the main building was quite an adventure the first night, the signage around the building isn't really up to Disney standards. We didn't eat at the restaurant, so I can't offer any advice on that.

BTW, my son loved the playground, so that could be an added bonus if you have little ones.

you paid 120 for a wing room?? you got ripped!!! My opinion is that place is a dump you can stay at a disney resort if you look for discounts for the same price.

To Travis M how dare you call the Grosvenor a dump to me
Allstar Movies was a dump it was boring the food stunk and it
was not worth the money. I have staid at the Grosvenor for
at least 16 years and I like it I have never found it to be a dump.
The Room are clean the Hotel staff is the best yes it is not a big
Hotel like some but it is not a dump.

I stayed there in May of 2000. Got an ok rate of about $90 a night. Stayed in a wing, the rooms were ok, nothing special. Breakfast at the buffet was terrific, no complaints there. Nice pool, decent service, close to the parks. Will I stay there again? No. You get much more staying at a Moderate Disney and sometimes you can get it cheaper too. Also, transportation is a nightmare. Luckily Grosvenor is the last resort the buses pick up from on the way to the park, but sometimes it is standing room only. But even worse you are the last one being dropped off. Frequency of buses is also a big problem, sometimes there are intervals of 1/2 waits esp. at AK. AT AK you end up waiting sometimes over 1/2 hour for a bus. We ended up spending tons of cash on taxis so we would n't be late for our dinner PS at the resorts and parks.

But i rather stay there than All Stars - so sorry to those who like All Stars but i find them to be incredible eye sores and they pack ppl in like cattle.

I stayed there for $65 a night in August 2001, found it clean, friendly, and conveniently located. I took buses from DD.

And I know many people here disagree, and that's fine, but I found the rooms at the CBR to be small and have very thin walls. And even at a discount, I couldn't get one of those rooms at the rate I got at the Grosvenor.

Don't worry, Beauty, I'm sure you and the Beast and the boys will have a great time! :)

I wouldn't think the Grosvenor is any worse than the All-Stars, and those are the Resorts w/ comparable fares--the mods are usually quite a big more, unless you get a nice deal. So, compared to the All-Stars, I don't think it looks that bad...

I know now, that was our first trip in ´99
Here in Spain we don’t have a lot of options
Even tough they have the Disney resort hotel rooms there is
"Never” a place, I know a lot of people who tried to
book a room for the GF and they always say there is no room free
, at least where I live, a lot of friends went to WDW none were able to stay on a Disney hotel, and they don’t go the busiest time of year.
Travel agent here don’t know anything about Disney,
it´s a shame..
