Today, Screamscape said that the new Gringott's ride may require 3D glasses. Does anyone know if that is true?

Is Screamscape treating that as new news?

For a year, Universal insiders like @HTF have said it'll be 3D. Hence the Mummy/Transformers mash-up comparison.

I remember someone saying that the ride would use a new type of 3D that didn't require glasses.

That's for the Hogwarts Express, which will use technology similar in a way to a much improved 3DS (best mainstream comparison I can think of, I know it is a bit more than that). Gringotts was always going to have 3D glasses.

The problem with 3D without glasses is the viewing angle. Basically you have to be right in front of it to see in 3D and I know of no technology out there that will come close to doing 3D on large scale without glasses.

That's why glasses-less 3D should work fine for the train ride. The distance from the guests' eyes and probably their exact seating position will be known and fixed. With a bit of geometry they should be able to place each guest inside a "lane" of 3D vision.

Yes, it's true. Along with Harry being in the ride, which you said he wouldn't be. And there being live sets and animatronics in the ride.

So, care to change your stance on Griingotts?

-3D glasses on a roller coaster do not excite me in the least bit. It sounds like the perfect recipe for motion sickness.
-I am curious to see how they incorporate Harry Potter in the attraction since Daniel Radcliffe did not participate in the ride's creation.
-Spirit said the attraction with be 85 percent screens, if the ride is 3D, I'm guessing that is accurate.

It's not a roller coaster. Not really, anyway.

Huge themed sets and animatronics. Lots of screens too, but plenty of sets and real, in the flesh stuff too.

Daniel said once that he wasn't interested in being involved, doesn't mean he didn't change his mind about it.

It's not a coaster. It has short quicker sections, slow parts and complete stops. I dare say Space Mountain in WDW goes a lot quicker. The coaster type track and ride system was the most suitable for the attraction.

Screens are used to further the depth of the physical sets and to reproduce what no physical system could. Simple.

Upping the bar again...

I think if Daniel Radcliffe played a big role in the attraction, they would feature him over the Weasley brothers.

Just because he appears in the ride doesn't mean they could convince him to do the publicity and promo appearances. He's stated he wants to move away from being typecast as Potter, but doing a little bit for a ride doesn't hurt that, appearing for all the publicity and promo stuff could, however, so you'll likely not be seeing him much anymore when it comes to publicity for anything related to Harry Potter. The same goes for Emma Watson from what I understand. Plus, if what I've heard is to be believed, some filming for this attraction happened quite a while ago, during a time when he pretty much was still Harry Potter, and not afterwards or recently.

Harrison Ford similarly had agreed to do the Indiana Jones Adventure if he was left out of the marketing. He pulled out when Disney did not honor his wishes.
