Grill Broken at BoG (2/26/2013)?

If certain dish is not being prepared in the normal manner, I would normally expect the server to say something when it is being ordered. Now I have not been to BoG yet because I can never get a reservation but the order system is a kiosk and not a waiter, am I correct? This does leave a bit of a hole in the full service unless there is a system to notify while at the kiosk on the way to order. If it's not a kiosk order system, just ignore this.

Its kiosk at lunch, full table service with a server for dinner.

There was some sort of mechanical failure during dinner service in the kitchen. Unfortunately, things like this do happen at any restaurant and there are going to be a few orders that might not come out exactly like they are supposed to while the equipment is being repaired, which it was fixed. But clearly if the person dining knew they were having an issue with the grill, why would you order a steak that has to be grilled? Common sense anyone?
Conversely, Disney could have informed the customer that the steak would not be grilled but would be prepared another way. Or taken it off the menu.

Being an executive chef, this is completely unacceptable. We have a back gas grill if needed. You cant tell me that a new restaurqnt has faulty, equipment, let alone no backup plans in place, especially in disney, where they have back ups for back ups. It's one thing if the power goes out or gas is interupted. Poor planning if youbask me. If you cant sell what you advertise, then close for the day, but do not sell sub par food, at least if you have standards.

A minor clarification to what I was told. The guests were informed in an off-hand remark that there was a kitchen issue as the server left their table after taking their order.

Yeah... quote us your source if your such a Disney know-it-all... LOL.

Why, the woman I had dinner with the night before is who told me about it. Because we had a fabulous, properly prepared, cooked, served and delicious medium rare steak from BoG on that night. Exactly how the hell she pulled off TWO BoG ADRs is beyond me.....

She must have spent a lot of time on the computer or on the phone waiting for reservations. Plus it is not uncommon for people at Disney to make a reservation at the same restaurant two days in a row, not knowing how their travel plans will unfold once at Disney. I've eaten at BOG multiple times for dinner, just takes proper planning.

Oh, no...it arrived without its cancer stripes. How awful! Must have ruined that persons whole vacation! Not as pretty, but probably just as tasty. But what do I know. I occasionally shop at Walmart!:p

We are near the one year anniversary of the TTC going down for a power outage. 2 back up generators failed.
Over 50 ticket booths shut down and guests force to go to either Epcot instead of the MK to purchase tickets or Ferry over to MK side and funnel into less than a dozen Guest Relation queues, mixing in with guests that had other Guest Relation issues.

I saw pictures of the nightmare of that day of no power, no restrooms at the TTC. My DS recounting that day he will always remember. Then onto the fall when the Halloween party flooding rain, another instance when decisions had to be made on the fly. Steaks, heads up to guests by servers could have been such an easy remedy.

Absolutely agree. If the steak is 'grilled', the expectation, far and wide, is for it to have those tasty 'cancer strips' on them. Yes, steak can be done in a cast iron pan (and a pan sauce made with the fond), but it isn't 'grilled'. If it's cooked on a big slap of stainless steel like at Mels Diner, that is not grilled.

If restaraunts are in the habit of serving food that they *know* to be subpar, all the more reason to send food back.

Didn't someone post that the 'pomme frites' that's served next to this steak is the Cockerell Fries that you can get at Cosmic Ray's (and every other Disney run quick serve)?

Grill marks? You think this is about grill marks?

This is about consistency in preparation of food at a Signature Dining Restaurant and not informing guests that that their meal may not be up to their linking.

You don't like or understand that?
