Great Movie Ride

According to a friend who worked the ride in the early 90's, there IS a computerized control system, just not in the conventional manner. There are "stop plates" (this isn't the correct terminology, but I think it conveys the point) located in sets of three, which are used to slow the vehicles down and stop them at the exact point in which they should be. Once the action in a scene has finished, the operator then starts the vehicle off into the next location. The ride is semi-manual because timing the action sequences with the moving theatre vehicles would be too difficult. These stop plates are also used because it would be really hard to stop the vehicle over a charging plate, which is used to keep the batteries on-board charged (think of an electric toothbrush....there aren't any wires attached to the toothbrush, but it's charged when located over the base)

Hope this helps
