Great Movie Ride and TCM

I was at WDW about two months ago. When we went to DHS (which was a mess do to construction) and did the Great Movie Ride I notice that it had a new partnership with TCM. That I didn't like that at all. The main reason it aggravated me, was having the TCM audio playing at the same time our guide was talking. Either have the guide (which I love the most) or have the audio but don't have them both. Personally I think the ride would be dead if they got rid of the guide. (He or she) is the best part (depending on who you get) of the show!!

We rode right after the change last year. If there was overlap it was because the guide was saying their lines at the wrong time. The recorded narration is at fixed intervals.

Yes, this. If the guide and narration were going at the same time, your guide messed up.

I like the new partnership, because it means the attraction got a tiny bit of tender love and care. And of all the sponsorships on property, it's probably the most appropriate.

I like the sponsorship, but adding extra pre-recorded narration was a mistake. The show should be hosted by your guide, not an invisible voice. The only place where the narration is appropriate is after the holdup when your guide is replaced by the robber/gangster.

But there always was a pre-recorded narration.

We've ridden a few times since the change and have been fortunate that our guide hasn't talked over the recording. It's a nice change and though the updates were small, it was still a nice refresh for a great ride!

Going through the Alien portion on Saturday we saw the Alien coming from the right side. I've never seen this before...I've only ever saw it coming from the roof. Is this a new thing?

It was so empty that we were the only car in there at the time. In fact, we were the only car in Wizard of Oz and the final movie scene.
That's normal operation for all but the busiest times.

I should have said the side Alien is usually seen from the second car of a single two car train.

As other said, your guide just missed their timing.

I honestly think the most disappointing part was the montage at the end. I just didn't like it. Nothing I can really put my finger on, but I think the previous version was better.

I also think Osborne is cheesy and his quips are annoying. The "subtle" advertisement for TCM is not so and it comes off as a commercial.

I do think the TCM tie in helped an old attraction get a little TLC, but it's annoying they need a partnership to give a an attraction some love.

I thought the queue was well done. I didn't like the narration going back and forth between the driver and the recording. Pick one. And the ending movie was originally edited by Chuck Workman, probably the best editor in the business. The new movie was put together by someone else, someone not as talented.

I had the same experience on Wednesday 7/20. I looked back in the Oz room and there was no other car
At the end of the Indy scene where the gangster/robber try to steal the jewel, I was able to see the actor come out from behind and get in place for the next car. We were fortunate enough to be sitting in the very last row.
