Grand Floridian or Contemporary?

You should stay at the All Stars and send me a check for the difference;)

For me it's CR. Bay Lake is really quite beautiful and peaceful. I think the lake view rooms at CR/BLT are some of the most under rated at WDW. As others have said CR is a bit more convenient, especially the walk to MK and monorail access in the main concourse. I like taking the boat to WL and Fort Wilderness too. I'm biased since my first trip to WDW we stayed at CR. Of course back then it was only CR and Poly to choose from:)

The Grand Floridian was my first Disney hotel and always holds a special place in my heart, but has become somewhat "run down" throughout the years for the price. However, I hear that the rooms are undergoing renovations, which they badly need. The lobby and nature of the resort is elegant and truly holds that magical Disney feel for myself and my family. I recommend staying here for any first timers to experience the full Disney effect. As I've gotten older, we've started staying at the Contemporary (tower only) and have greatly enjoyed the ease of walking to the MK. It's also so nice to have a glass of wine on the balcony watching the sunset before dinner right upstairs at the California Grill. Either resort is a great option...just depends on your travel style and family.

I think some of it also may depend on the ADRs and your personal preferences with these things. For example, I'd much rather be at the Contemporary if I have a 7am at Chef Mickey's...especially if kids are involved. Also, if we're going during the peak heat and humidity of summer, I might consider how much my lodging choice might put me outside before going to a signature meal ...since makeup and hair aren't always very forgiving.
Oy, leave it to a chick to point out how dudes never think about the needs of chicks.

Not like a dude would point that out...because that means he's thinking about the needs of chicks.

And the Circle of Strife is now complete. :D

But that is a good point, if the trip is intended to be during the hottest months, no matter how much you try to gussy up, outfits and/or makeup could be wilted and/or melted by the time you reach your destination.

FWIW, I'd choose CR over GF.

And this is why I plan our trips. Dh would never take these things into consideration. ;)
