Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House

As a resident of DTLA, I find the thematic elements of Grand Ave a bit perplexing. For instance, the recent addition of the lamp posts are not consistent with the green lantern-style lights of the real Grand Ave, and the original Streets of America buildings more closely resembled Grand Ave / DTLA compared to the update.

It'll be a nice transition area, no doubt. Will it be an honest attempt to evoke the spirit of DTLA in a similar way that Sunset Blvd evokes Old Hollywood? Definitely not.

I live within a 10 minute drive from DTLA, and I spend most of my time there (was just there yesterday). I agree. Not just the lamps, but the facades look absolutely nothing like what you would see in DTLA, be it the modern buildings or the late 19th century/early 20th century buildings.

It's quite obvious to me that whoever came up with these designs has either never visited DTLA at all, or has been but completely forgot what it looks like. Still looks nice though.

I feel like it's not supposed to look exactly like DTLA "welcome to the Hollywood that never was, and never will be". I think the land will work aesthetically and will serve well as the transition area between Muppets and GE. Just my opinion

I would imagine the facades should look similar. If they're trying to invoke DTLA, what's the point of not making the facades look similar to what one would actually see in DTLA? This is a lost opportunity, in my opinion, as a lot of the buildings in DTLA are intricate and incredibly detailed. Disney could have easily pulled that off.

I'm definitely not disputing the transition. Just the looks of the facades/buildings.

I'm sure it's wishful thinking. But, it seems like there is a potential story emerging here that could actually prove better themed than the original park's overall theme. I'm envisioning sort of a classic Hollywood Blvd. as the main entrance. With a sort of "current Hollywood/LA streets" connecting Hollywood Blvd. hub to the various lands as transition areas - namely being Echo Lake, Grand Avenue, Comissary Lane, Sunset Blvd. and whatever becomes of Pixar Place. In a way, that actually could really work. It allows for "disconnected" attractions to land on the connecting streets (50s Prime Time, ToT, OMD, Sci Fi, etc.) while having the grand areas of SWGE, TSL whatever Animation Court becomes (or really could stay with some additional themeing), etc.

No clue if that's the overall plan, but a thought that came to mind.

Pixar Place will be no more, the land previously occupied by Pixar Place will become backstage once TSL opens.

Right. I should have clarified - thinking the stretch between OMD, Mermaid and the arch. It would be the transition area between TSL and the animation area and whatever it becomes ("Toon Studios?").

I would miss the days of passing the Commissary, and saying "NOPE!" really loud and then walking to Epcot for lunch.

The Studios has always been a horrid choice for my family to dine forever. Now worse. We always attempt to dine Epcot or Boardwalk area to avoid given its half park status for most of the parks existence. I don't mind the addition of clever bars. I do mind the lack of good restaurants QS or TS worthy of the prices. Brown OK but signature hardly. A real stretch

Next to Epcot, this is my favorite park to dine in. Absolutely love HBD and 50's. Still haven't ate at SiFi and I've been going to the parks for a long time now, I really need to change that. I agree HBD is hardly a signature, but most of what Disney calls a signature isn't really signature...I'm especially looking at you Le Cellier

I know that Disney just spent a bunch of money turning Pizza Planet into PizzaRizzo, but does this mean that the Muppet's have a limited future in what will be known as Grand Park?

Who knows what it means? I do know my first thought wasn't that it meant the end of The Muppets.
