Got a PIN in the mail, but I have a question

I finally got a PIN in the mail for a discount stay at WDW, but it is in the name of my daughter's friend. She came with us one time (when the girls were 15) , and the mailing came to my address but it is in the friends name. The friend is now 20. Since it was mailed to my address, can I use it?

Based on the replies, it appears that people who haven't visited WDW in a long time are being targeted with the PINs. I supposed that's why I've never received one - I live within driving distance to WDW and go several times each year, so there's no reason for WDW to entice me to come on down.

However, as has been the case with others, a postcard with a PIN was issued in my name, but mailed to my friend's address in NJ.

We have annual passes, but we applied the pin code yesterday to our POFQ stay. It only saved us about $25/night from full rack rate. If the AP codes come out this week, I'll switch back to try to apply that. But I called once and inquired about the fact that my niece's name was on the postcard with our address, she had traveled with us once out of the 50 times! and they said we would both qualify. Then yesterday it was applied by a different reservationist. I wonder if they had a glich in their system and had to double up on the different name/address offer!

Could someone post a pic of the PIN postcard.. of course covering up your name/address. I just want to see what it looks like so I don't mistakenly toss something so valuable out! =)

Same here Divine...I've had my sisters postcard and my dad's mailed to me and both times I was told I couldn't use it because neither of them were going with me. I never get any luck!

You can't miss it! It's 5 x 7, folded, and opens up. Sleeping Beauty/Prince on the front in color on a background of purple. The other side is also purple, with the three Fairy Godmothers and it says, "We just love happy mailings..don't you?"

Sorry I can't show it to you..I'm computer--challenged.

:mad:I got a post card in the mail today & got all excited--all for naught. It came in a friends name who travelled with me a few years ago:fork:. It really irks me that this is the 2nd time I have got one in her name when she was on my ressie that I paid for and I have NEVER gotten a PIN in my name. :(

Ah, I've gone to WDW 2-8 times each year since '94 and I've only received a discount post card one time!!

Can I just say how thankful I am that in all of these post not one of you have used the dredded Pin Number nothing burns me up like redundancy and abreviations used at the same time. When every I hear someone say ATM machine, I want to explain to them it's an Automatic Teller Machine. Not an Automatic Teller Machine Machine. And you use a personal Identification Number, not number number.

Yea WDWMagic forms members for using the term correctly:sohappy:

Life is great after the caffeine has kicked in, huh? :dazzle:

I hate when people don't use a spell checker before posting!

To those of you who received a PIN to your home address, but it is in someone else's name you can still use it... I received one in my nephew's name and gave WDW a call and explained the issue, and was able to apply the code to my ressie because it was mailed to my address! So give it a try. We saved almost $600.00:sohappy:

Wow..I wonder if they have changed this or if you just got lucky..I tried to use it last time I got one in another person's name & I was told it had to be in my name--it didn't matter that it was my address..Maybe I will try!

I guess it depends on the person you spoke to over the phone. The first person said the name had to be on the ressie, and we thought it didn't sound right so we called again. The second person said it was fine to use it because it was sent to our address. You really should try!

PINs

I've never been to WDW, but I ordered a vacation planning DVD about a year ago, and I received a PIN in my email. The email advertised up to 40% off at the all-stars, but I called and ended up getting a standard view at AKL for $135/night for December 7-17, so I saved $900.00 on my room for the 10 days :sohappy:

I don't think where you live has a lot to do with it since I'm way up in British Columbia in Canada :king:

That may help explain how people get those discount PINs in the mail.
Looks like they may send them to people who asked for a planning DVD but never went. Using the same mailing address to check.

People who go to WDW often don't seem to get the PINs.

Or someone who hasn't been in a long time. We've gone 8 times since our honeymoon in 2000, but my wife has gotten several PINs under her maiden name. Unfortunatley, we've never been able to go in the timeframe. This time however, we are squeezing a last trip on our AP in using the PIN. Only thing is we had to book under her maiden name.

This was our experience too. Ended up with an AP rate anyway, but why are there such inconsistencies? Seems like a fairly cut and dry thing to me. Sounds like they need to get their story straight and stick with it  Where's JP with the official word on this?? Do we have a "bat signal" type thing for him? :ROFLOL:
