Well all my fellow northeasterners know from whence I speak. Will the weather EVER warm up here in Rhode Island??? we are convinced we won't feel HEAT until our arrival in Disney World June 2. Can't wait.
So...many things I can't wait for after long winter. I will give you a few and looking forward to hearing yours.
Just Can't Wait..........
**** to feel that blast of heat as you walk out of airport onto DME
**** to settle in on one of those comfortable seats on DME , knowing the vacation has JUST BEGUN
**** to see all the Disney Billboards along the way on trip to Resort ( Riverside)
**** to walk into the resort check in room and just SMILE!
**** to open that door to our room and know its HOME for 10 days!
**** for that first bus ride or boat ride to park or DTD it just feels RIGHT
**** to walk into Magic Kingdom first time on trip and just feel soooo happy. Other parks nice BUT something special making that initial visit to Magic Kingdom.
****MANY MORE But would love to hear from all of you.

Hubby is still in RI finishing up some work on our rental property up there (we moved to FL in 2006) and I am here in Florida - 90 minutes from WDW. My granddaughter (age 9) and I will be picking him up at the Orlando airport on May 9th and will stay the weekend at either Saratoga or Beach Club - I have BC on a wait list. What a winter up North it was!! He was in RI waiting for the snow to stop so he could come back down to FL but it just wouldn't give up. Our property is in Northwest RI so we get it bad when it comes. Just now are the daffodils starting and forsythia. Usually that is in March. It seems a whole month late for Spring this year.

Here in FL the kids are in the pool and it is a steamy 88 degrees, dropping from 92, and we're waiting for a thunder storm to roll in anytime now. We went to Bradenton Beach on Sunday and the temp was about the same. Sorry Rhode Islanders that it is only 45 back there................

We are picking him up at 5:30 pm Friday and will stop at the Golden Corral on the way from the airport for dinner, hotel check in (DVC), and then off to the Parks. But Saturday for dinner it is Cape May at Beach Club! Even though RI seafood can't be beat, we still enjoy Cape May. I just miss lobster. The Flower and Garden Show is still on til the 18th so that will be Saturday, and then Sunday we will probably wing it, but we can't stay too late because granddaughter has school the next day.

Just driving onto WDW property gets us in Park mode. Even though we can go to the Parks often, we still go through the same type of excitement, starting when we see the mouse ears electrical sub-station off Route US 4!

Have a Magical vacation MIKETFROMRI !!!

Yeah... I'm in Atlanta but I definitely felt my proportionate share of winter this year! Being stuck in my car for four hours to travel 18 miles was not fun... neither was watching all the accidents happening around me or knowing that about 400 students at my school were stuck there overnight with the administration. I would have stayed too if I had been there more than a week and knew the kids better!

But I digress. We're going down June 1-7 :)

We have had a brutally cold and snowy winter up here in N. Illinois too. Our grass is greening up but most of the trees are still bare.

We are just coming off a nearly 2 week trip staying at the FrenchQuarter. It was around 40 when we took off for MCO in our shorts and jackets. Warmth hit us at 930 am. DME was timely and short though we went in the backway do to construction and missed the arch. We were met with 3 earning our ears and things got royally messed up but our room was ready at 10am so DD proceed to fight on the phone until they conceded and fixed everything.

From that point on the buses, the boats, the ferries, the food, the parks were everything we needed to get over our winter. This Girls trip was fun fun fun and everything by the seat of our pants, we booked only a couple weeks before we left. We needed out of Dodge and it was exactly what we needed.

Personally I can't stand hot weather (or shifty Dwarfs!), but LOVE Disney World, so I deal with it. Will be there next Tuesday, and feel your pain about the winter up here. (Live in Massachusetts, but real close to Bristol)

I am so with you! I'm an Upstate New Yorker, but we've endured the same kind of horrible, never-ending winter.

When we depart for WDW this Sunday, we'll be leaving behind weather in the low 50s for weather in the high 80s (and I'll be wearing shorts the whole way). Like the OP mentioned, I can't wait for that wall of warm air to hit me when we step out of the airport!

The weather was so bad, while shoveling snow (again) for President's Day) DH and I decided we needed an emergency trip. Best decision we ever made. Flew in on a very late flight, and when the kids said, "Look! Palm trees!) I thought I was going to cry. Weather was perfect, Riverside was great (as always).

Enjoy your trip @MIKETFROMRI !

It's been a terrible winter here in Wisconsin too. Hubby and I had brief thaw in Mexico but are frozen again as it is snowing today. Ugh, I can't wait to step out of mco in June. And maybe hit the pool at the pop!

I hear ya! I'm still freezing my butt off here on Long Island. I'm not a fellow Rhode Islander, but I am a graduate of Brown University, so I was a Rhode Islander for 4 years! Anyway, thankfully, I'm heading to Disney on the west coast in just over 3 weeks. Enjoy your trip south.

Exactly us. Trip put together posthaste and we were there. (airfare wasn't bad last minute either.)

On the DME I couldn't stop looking at all things green and colorful. Went to Epcot for a few hours soaked in the flowers and green and off to the MK,( which was not so green aside from the construction walls.)

I think my DD and I were in the World for about 4 days before I stopped obsessing about all things green.

I also was highly excited about all of the green. But, you know it has been a bad winter when your 15 year old DS keeps saying things like Wow, it's green. Look at how green that is!

Yes, when a 15 year old boy notices...it was brutal!

That made me smile! Wish I could like that post more than once.

That is the ultimate test for sure. When my son comes back up to Northern Illinois in January, where he grew up he is sad to say good-bye again but happy to return to the warmth.

It was bad in the South too this year. I live in Tennessee but was in Atlanta for work when the ice hit. It was insane & extended my trip by two days!!

Not getting out to WDW until after summer, but I know how you feel! I've been saying I've been cold so long, I forgot what it's like to feel hot. My "happy place" has been the sweltering heat of Animal Kingdom, and I don't really spend much time there on my trips.

I love Bristol, by the way! I'll be spending lots of time there over the summer.

You could say that you're dreaming of what it would be like to be... IN SUUUUUUMMMMMMERRRRRR!

Ha, I'll be honest, I didn't like Frozen that much... but this has been my anthem since I saw it.

Yeah... I started my new job the day after MLK Day and had all of five days with my kids when the weather hit. Then we had that second round two weeks later... lol... it took me two months to get through my first month's worth of school days!
