or go ride on a skateboard in the tunnels.

I'm bad.

Sounds like fun to me! I had a van driver once who hit speed bumps really fast to see how much air he could get.

Hey, you aren't one of those pargo drivers who tries to run everyone down in the tunnels, are you? :P

I drive the van at DAK for Package Pickup and Hotel Delivery, my bad habit is stopping at Mombusa, pick up their deliveries and check out the parade for 3-5 minutes, during the 4 o' clock run... :lookaroun :sohappy:

It's probably not the curtain, but the 40 foot steel pipe that is in the bottom of the curtain. Pipes are sown into the bottom to give the curtain enough weight so it:

1) Doesn't blow all over the stage when it is in.
2) Flies staight down when being flown in.

Also, depending on the fabric, some curtains can weigh at least 300 pounds.

I've been hit in the head by those pipes and they leave huge bumps! They are not fun.

And it's true, the stagemanager probably wasn't looking. They are the ones that call the cue for the curtain to come down in the first place. If it isn't safe, you don't give the cue. It's common sence for a stage manager. (I am one myself)

that was probably me...

I actually got pulled over backstage by OC Sheriff's Deputies in the van... they wanted to know how I could take some of the turns at the speeds I was going. OC Sheriff's Deputies are cool... lol

normally they go into the park and make purchases and make sure all is ok, they observe everything and whatnot. Mine was with custodial to make sure they were separating recyclables. I went into the park in street clothes and placed marked plastic bottles in trash cans and made sure custodial was doing their job.

Took a company 4x4 to the dump and had a ball!! Beat the daylights out of that truck going four wheeling!

During EPCOT construction, there were a lot of 4x4 SUVs floating around.

oh yeah... they always are. A friend of mine was a valet at the Beach Club... (he transferred out). One day, a guest pulls in a RUF Porsche 911.... he does a crazy burnout as he pulls out. 2 point reprimand on his part.. but he said it was well worth it.. lol.

not much... but there are a few things

1- schedule written in a place where time can be frozen. There's no way a van driver driving at a safe speed can make it from the parade building to the oasis-dinoland-RPW-Tamu, back to the oasis in 10 minutes. When the first group o' Fuzzies is late and I wait for them I get yelled at for being late to the rest of the pickups. And when they're late and I leave them behind, I get yelled at for leaving them behind.

2- uncomfortable van seats. Most CM's would not notice this, but riding in that van 8+ hours a day, you would start getting a sore back.... those seats provide almost so support where you need it and where you don't need it, there's a spring poking you

that's about it...

Depends on which van driving there is. Character driving probably stinks at DAK, but package pickup is awesome. I drive from the Oasis to Dinosaur's building (HUGE), to Chester's and Hester's, around the Everest site (fun to watch), around to Conservation station, Asia, and Africa (which all are along the train route so usually I get to stop at the tracks and wave at guests), then around the Savanah seeing maybe an Elephant, giraffe, and some storks along the way, then final stop at Creature COmforts and then back the way I came.

oh yeah... you could take like a 2 hour nap and get away with it.

I liked the older route better though... when you had to go to the other parks to pick up CM's and then go to downtown disney to drop off the Studio M cast. I'd swing by the backstage McDonalds and pick up breakfast for myself, then head back to Epcot and eat it while I'd get 20 questions about where I got that food..

That's not even getting stuck behind one of the safari vehicles...
