Also, depending on the fabric, some curtains can weigh at least 300 pounds.
Many professional curtains weigh much more. A falling curtain can kill you. Stage managers are there for a reason.

until you've spent a day chilling with the characters, don't bash it. To this day I have permanent back injuries due to that line of work....

at least you can tell your kids that your acs and pains made lots of families and kids very happy, not alot of jobs you can say that about.

As well as prescribing pain killers and muscle relaxers instead of fixing the problem.

Or putting you on light duty (I won't get into what a joke that is...when you have a back injury you shouldn't be sent somewhere that you stand for six hours straight with no break) for a week and then putting you right back in the position that hurt you in the first place.

Two words: Great Wall. The first time I was ever on light duty in about eight years. I had to be put on it twice and the second time I had to demand Xrays and to see a specialist. The Dr. at first aid commented on how he couldn't find a problem with my back from my Xrays. When I went to see the specialist (a chiropractor...who I see regularly now) she pointed out that my fifth lumbar vertabrae was absolutely screwed up. Two weeks of seeing her plus physical therapy and I was better.

I'm really sorry guys, I had no idea, I guess I kind of wanted to stay in my little bubble.

Light duty is evil. My roommate was on light duty for a long time, and she had to spend an eight hour shift counting tabs off Coke cans (for one of those charity things). Jars and jars full of tabs. And not only that, but they were nasty and sticky tabs.
I had fun when I got sent to Costuming though. I was there with my roommate once, and we had great competitions to see who could match the most costume pieces in the mismatch bins.
