Goofy Mystery Tour

Any CMs out there participate in the Goofy Mystery Tour last night? That was the first one I have ever done, and I have to say it was a blast. The only drawback was the late hour -- I'm feeling it today.

For those that don't know, the GMT is a Cast-Only (and their families/friends) event where teams of 4 take part in a puzzle-based race around Disney's Hollywood Studios. They start off with 50 trivia questions in the Theater of the Stars, and then the team members (who are all bunjee-d together) take off around Sunset and Hollywood Blvds, solving complex puzzles and games and presenting their results to various stations to receive their next clues and puzzles. The final puzzle is a word scramble, and then the winner is declared. It started at about 9:30 last night and ran until after 1:00 a.m.

Anyway, for you CMs (or friends of CMs), I highly recommend the event, especially if you're good at puzzles and games. A really fun way to play in the parks.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. I love puzzles and trivia stuff. I wish I had known about it when I was down on my CP. I've been wondering what it was for awhile, because they gave away the extra T-shirts from it at the CP graduation, and nobody could figure out what the back of the shirt meant. It said, "At last the game is afoot." I'm assuming it was some sort of clue perhaps?

That sounds like DCA's version of Minnie's Moonlight Madness. It's really fun. I like the idea of having cast events like that. I wish they hosted more cast events throughout the year.

I think it gives CM's a chance to have fun in a park that doesn't deal with the regular hassles of the day. Ya know what I mean?

Minnie's takes place in both Disneyland and DCA, they switch off. Also Goofy's was a take off of Minnie's just a challange with a goal not a challange with the points. Minnie's is coming up in 2 weeks I can not wait!

This sounds like a lot of fun. I'm glad that the hard working CMs get a chance to play. What does the winning team receive? Prizes? Medals? Do the runner-up teams get anything?

They honored the top 3 teams. It was an Olympic-theme this year, so there were gold, silver, and bronze medals, and bouquets of flowers. I assume the prizes are different based on the theme of the event.

They also mentioned that the Goofy Mystery Tour originated from a similar idea from DL, so I assume it's that Minnie/DCA thing. It's definitely a lot of fun. It'd be great to do the DL version.

they posted the final results this afternoon. I was a little bummed last night because my team did not win. But I feel better this afternoon! We did not win because we did not solve the final puzzle, but we were first overall in terms of points! If we had simply not botched the word scramble at the end (which is worth zero points, but is a prerequisite for winning), we would have taken the gold!

I wish I was there for that. Hopefully next year.

Joanna there was one while I was on my fall cp last october. So maybe they do it twice a year?

I really wanted to do it but it was on my exbf's birthday and I thought we'd be doing dinner and such. But long story short... I totally could've participated in it!! Hopefully next year when I move down.

Unfortunately I will only be in FL til Aug, and I don't think they would do another one so soon.
