Goodyear Blimp over WDW today

The goodyear blimp was flying over property today, presumably capturing overhead pictures for the Disney World Christmas parade.

The Goodyear Blimp flies over my building in downtown Fort Lauderdale regularly, so I wonder what they are taking pictures of here!!!

Yup, saw it around 2:30 - 3ish this afternoon... so technically then, I WILL be on the Christmas Parade special Sweet!

Oh, wow......please, please, please, pretty please tell me there is someone with photos of the blimp hovering over SSE! The photos made my day today, but any more would make my 9 days. 9 days that is, until I'm at WDW. Sigh. I guess I missed the blimp.

Believe it or not, the blimp is another complete obsession of mine.

LorangeJuice, no photos from me (my lens won't zoom 435 miles), but if you do a little youtube searching for the EPCOT dedication (not the Danny Kaye opening special, but the actual dedication), all of the aerial shots are from the blimp, and there's at least one shot that shows the blimp over EPCOT in 1982. It's less than ten seconds into the 3rd segement (the way the video is chopped up on youtube).

We got to MK around 10am and it was hovering then. Stuck around and kept swinging around various parts of the park throughout the day. We hopped over to Epcot around 3:45pm and they were filming a Regis/Kathy Lee segment in front of the train station. I don't recall seeing the blimp after that. (And I definitely didn't see it when I was taking pics of the wandless SSE around 4pm)

I got a shot that sorta looks like the blimp is a rocket flying out of SSE, i'll post it later.

That said - OMG!! Tons of people at the parks today.

After all this time, I had no idea that the blimp was at the dedication of EPCOT! I was certainly too little to remember anything back then, but I thought I knew almost everything about the blimp. BTW, when I say "the blimp," I'm referring to the Goodyear blimp, of course. I've seen many others, but Goodyear blimps always have a special place in my heart. I'm pretty sure most people see Goodyear and say "oh look, there's the blimp!" When a random Lightship shows up, most peple are like "what kind of blimp is that?" or "oh look, it's the (insert Outback/Saturn/Budweiser/Blockbuster) blimp. It's not the blimp.

I figured that was what it was for when I saw it coming into work yesterday, but since it was right near EPCOT/MGM at that time I wasn't entirely sure.

Glad to help, LOJ. By the way... I can't say for certain that it was the Goodyear blimp, but I'm pretty sure that one was about the only game in town back then. Nowadadys everybody has a blimp. Well, except me.
