I was go to get the dining plan on my trip in aug, however the couple my boyfriend and i were going with backed out and now we can't afford it. We will have to eat mostly at counter service. I think we will be able to eat at alfredo's since we can get the appetizer portion of the fett. alfredo so it would be cheaper. Does anyone know of any other table service restaurants that are like this or some good counter service restaurants?

MK: CS - Columbia Harbour House
TS - The Plaza restaurant... it is actually less expensive than some CS places depending on what you get.

Epcot: CS - Cantina de San Angel
TS - San Angel Inn (you can get appetizers instead of a meal) or Chefs de France has some inexpensive meals

MGM: CS - Toy Story Pizza Planet
TS - 50's Prime Time can be inexpensive... and the portions are big so you could easily share a meal.

AK: Flame Tree BBQ, Very good!

Downtown Disney: Wolfgang Puck Express is AMAZING and cheap too!

The Trail's End Restaurant at Fort Wilderness has a very good buffet that is only $10.99/person for Lunch. This could be a good place to have lunch at when you're at the MK, just take the boat over and relax for a few hours and then head back.

One other thing to remember is, if you look at the menus and see something you really would both like then considering sharing... the CM's are very good about this.

Flame Tree BBQ is the best counter service on property.

Cheapest table service is probably Nine Dragons in China. Not the best TS in epcot, but it's cheap.

Check out the menus on Allsearsnet. They've got pricing for just about every restaurant, counter and table service. That will give you a general idea on how much to budget for.

I agree with your assessment of Flame Tree. My view of 9 Dragons is that its awful. Other good CS include the cantina at mexico, Cosmic Rays, the Tusker House. Try going to TS for lunch is generally cheaper.

I'll second that! You can look thru the menus, with prices, of all of the restaurants. You will be able to pick out the ones that you may like the best. Generally lunch is less expensive than dinner and just as good, the portions are still large and satisfying. Click here for menus
We also have menus listed here at Magic.

We love Cosmic Ray's and Pecos Bill's in the MK and Tusker House in DAK.
We don't usually eat in MGM and Epcot we almost always have a sit down meal. Check out some of the buffets as they are filling & have a decent variety of food. Having a couple of appetizers is another good way to go, try a few different things, share the dishes and not go broke.
We have made a meal out of visiting a few of the snack carts along the different countries in Epcot when we've had a really big breakfast also.

If you bring some breakfast foods and snack with you you can save some money there and have a bit more to spend at the restaurants.

Hope everything works out for you.

Just so you know, the app. portion of the alfredo is pretty small. You would do better to order the dinner size and then split it. Alfredo's is definitely worth it though.

Another option to consider is kid's meals. My daughter is 21, soon to be 22, and still orders kids meals since she's not a big eater and is very opposed to wasting food and/or money....

You can get some large and filling meals at many of the counter service restaurants. My recommendations are as follows:

Pizzafari, Cosmic Ray's, Pinocchio Village Haus, Sunshine Seasons, Columbia Harbour House, Toy Story Pizza Planet, Pecos Bill's, Lotus Blossom Cafe, Sommerfest, Flametree Barbeque, The Commissary.

You might also try the Plaza Restaurant, which is at the end of Main Street. It's sit-down but cheap.

If you decide to spring for a table service restaurant, the lunch menu is less expensive than the dinner menu.

I think Tusker House is great.
