Good Breakfast Bars?

Anyone know of a good breakfast bar? We grab one in the morning in our room before setting off to the parks. We've tried Quaker Oatmeal to Go, Quaker Chewy Granola bars, Special K and Nutrigrain - there hasn't been one that doesn't leave you starving in a few hours. I even tried the new Quaker ones with the extra protein, thinking they would last longer but by 9:00 my stomach was growling. My DH doesn't care for "sticks and tasteless" either so one of the more natural ones won't work - just wondering if any of you have had good luck with a particular one. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!:)

Have you tried the cereal and milk bars? I think they are still sold, haven't bought them in awhile though, but there are Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Trix, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch ones. I liked Cheerios and Cocoa Puffs the best.

I enjoy Clif Bars. They are an energy bar that comes in a variety of flavors that you can find in health food or grocery stores. My favorite flavors are chocolate brownie or chocolate chip.

Have fun.

Yaa, sure, yust becuz I'm from Minnie sota, doesn't mean ve like da lutefisk! :hurl:

I've tried the milk and cereal bars - not too impressed - maybe I'll look into those other nature bars. There's got to be something that doesn't leave you hungry in an hour - it's almost like chinese food

My suggestion would be to AVOID AT ALL COSTS the pre packaged, preservative laden "Breakfast Bars". They are designed to fill you up fast, race through your system and come out the other side...leaving you hungry in a matter of a few hours. Plus with all of the preservatives and franken foods bound together they will end up doing more damage in the long run to you and your family than if you were to have a nice sit down breakfast.
What my family always does is WAKE UP EARLIER...have a nice sit down breakfast, eggs and bacon, or pancakes/waffles, or a nice big bowl of oatmeal and a bunch of fruit. We can enjoy or time together, talk about what we want to do for the day and be full right on up to when we generally eat lunch...around 1:30-2:00pm.

The EAS Myoplex "Chocolate Crisp" bars are EXCELLENT! My wife eats the mint/cookie Pria bars......she goes through 2-3 a day. It must be working, she's down to a size ZERO!
Her best assets, have vanished.....if you know what I mean!

Please don't. Solid milk? (Or whatever it is) No thanks. I tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch one and it almost ruined regular cereal for me. They also have little to no nutritional value

Find something with fiber like FiberOne bars.

Now these on the other hand, have something like 10 grams of fiber. In my post-gallbladder days of a high fiber diet, these have been a miracle when I'm short on time for breakfast. Try the PB flavor, they are the best. Chocolate is also good, Caramel is ok, and they have new apple/cinnamon and I think strawberry (haven't tried those yet.) Any bar that is high in fiber is more likely to keep you full, though none are as good of a guarantee as a balanced breakfast. Good luck!

Have you ever tried the Luna Bars? They are sold in boxes at Target or individually at Walmart. They are delicious and quite filling. That with a small piece of fruit is enough for me. We like to do a quick bite in the morning, too, before hitting the parks...have a quick service lunch and a sit down dinner...works for us.

We always eat cereal in our room...buy a gallon of milk at the food court and it lasts a few days. :)

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I knew I could count on the people here to have some good ones! I've got a month before we go, so I'm going to pick up some of these different ones and try them. I kind of lean towards healthier options if possible. Last year we did Quaker Oatmeal to Go - different kinds (Banana Bread, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon and I think, apple) - anywho - by the end of 12 days, I had to gag it down. I still can hardly look at the box without feeling this way:hurl: I love the Fiber One bars, but they don't love me. Too MUCH fiber - if you get my drift ...

We don't like doing the breakfast thing - we stay at the Values and, as anyone who has stayed at them knows, breakfast is a crazy whirlwind at the food courts. We would rather spend the time getting ready in the room where it's quiet. DH goes and gets coffee and hot chocolate in our refillable mugs (that we purchase when we get there - that's another thread...) and we eat our breakfast bars while watching what's new for the day on Resort TV.

I'll try some of these and see what works! THANKS AGAIN!!!!

You know its really quiet in the parks in the morning...ever think of an early morning ADR at a restaurant in the parks?

How about a banana and some dry cereal like Honey-Nut Cheerios...also boxed milk such as Parmalat. All of these things will keep in your room at least a week, and without refrigeration!
