Pre-Trip Gonna end up fat and single...

Hey guys, :p

I finally am getting around to writing a true pre-trip report. Usually, my Disney plans are set in stone oh, you know, 180 days out…. But planning this trip has been so different! I have changed my mind constantly about what day we’ll go to what park, what time we’ll eat at what restaurant, and even what restaurants to book an ADR for. Disney has not been cooperating either, as I have no idea when the Star Wars fireworks will be, or what time Animal Kingdom will stay open until, and if Rivers of Light will even be a nighttime show in the fall. I have been pulling out my hair, driving myself (as well as my boyfriend) completely and utterly crazy. He just doesn’t understand the struggle of planning THE ULTIMATE DISNEY TRIP. My boyfriend has literally given me NO input, so I’m on my own. Okay, maybe he did suggest T-Rex and returning to Teppan Edo and I shut him, but that’s beside the point. ;);)

Myself and my BF, Joe

Now don’t get me wrong, I think of one the best parts of any Disney trip is the planning process! I sit at my computer with butterflies in my stomach looking at menus, and park hours, and firework show times. I probably have ten tabs open at all times of solely Disney websites. I wake up every morning and refresh my app to check on my reservations, just to make sure this is all real and not one big dream. I get myself all giddy and try to share my Disney planning accomplishments with people in my everyday life and they just don’t feel the same way!

Me: “Babe, I scored us a Be Our Guest reservation at 12 noon on our first day! TAKE A LOOK AT DEM APPLES.”
BF: “Nicole, what?! Are you talking Disney to me?”

So here I am, to share with you good people who understand my love and obsession with all things Disney and Disney planning. Without further ado, here are my pre-trip plans!
I’m too excited to sleep!!

My boyfriend and I are going to Disney from Friday, November 4th until Sunday, November 13th. That’s 10 days, 9 nights in my most favorite city in the world, the one, the only, Orlando!

We have gone once before together, back in 2011, and we had an absolutely amazing time. I was not as knowledgeable back then, and we ended up just stumbling upon the Food and Wine Festival, and completely missing the Christmas Party. (Who knew these things existed? Who was I?)

I moved last year to the Philadelphia area, so we will be flying out of Philadelphia at 6:10 PM, arriving in Orlando at 8:57 PM.

Here’s hoping I can find my way around the Philadelphia airport, because as we all know, I am severely directionally challenged.
We plan to do 6 days at Disney, with the magic your way tickets with park hoppers and the water park add on, check out the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and spend 2 days at Universal (the dark side). Last Christmas, I read the Harry Potter series, for the first time, and I just could not put the books down. My boyfriend dragged me to his work Christmas party, after just finding out Dumbledore freaking dies, and I had everyone at his dinner table consoling me. We had a movie marathon, and I just think it’s time I checked out these other parks in my beloved city of Orlando.

Since we fly in at night, and are trekking over to the dark side, this leaves us with an abundance of table service credits. Seems like such a great predicament to be in (right?!), but this has made planning my dining so tough! Where to eat, where to eat!? Now, a girl is not complaining, because after moving out of my parents’ house, I now know how hard it is to make dinner every night. (Mama, I miss your home cooking.) You must plan out what is needed at the grocery store, and you never realize the time and effort that goes into a meal that you devour in less than ten minutes flat. Is it strange that I am most looking forward to not cooking for ten days? I APPRECIATE YOU DINING PLAN.

I went back and forth between Coronado and Port Orleans Riverside. I was even pricing out All Star Sports and Art of Animation. After much debate, with myself, I finally settled on Riverside. The resort looks super gorgeous with a touch of romance, and I still can’t decide if I want to be in Alligator Bayou or The Mansions. It’s all just too beautiful that I think I may leave that decision up to the Disney Gods.

So there’s the basics, the flight, the hotel, the tickets. Now onto the details!

Christmas T-shirt / Ugly sweater... Yay or Nay for the Christmas party? (obviously not these shorts)

I need the Christmas ears! I hope they put them up for sale soon! :)

OMG, you must wear that....it beats any of the official shirts for MVMCP! They sell Christmas ears year round; I bought a pair in July in that shop in DHS that is now Starbucks. Check out both the Disney store online and the Shop Disney parks app. If you're lucky, you'll hit a great sale that may include free shipping. I have a serious collection of Disney ornaments, both Halloween and Christmas, thanks to those two shopping sites. If I remember, the online store had several of the "ugly" Christmas sweaters for sale last year... I think I bought one, but I'd have to go look in boxes of Disney Christmas stuff to verify. Just counted; of my collection of nearly 30 pairs of Mickey ears/hats, 4 are Christmas and 5 are Halloween.

Your plans look great.
You'll have a blast at MVMCP, the parade & fireworks are amazing, try to meet Jack or the Dwarves as well.
Our next trip is not till November 2017, were from the UK so our trips tend to be every 2 or three years.

I have been stalking the Disney store website and the Disney parks app for the red and green sparkly Christmas ears and am having no luck! I found them on amazon but someone is charging 50 bucks! I just saw they put up some Halloween ears, so I hope that means Christmas is coming soon! The Santa hats with ears are also sooo cute but I have a strange head! LOL I am so jealous of you ear collection! You must take a pic one day!!

No plans currently for a Christmas party. I don't really do Xmas (I heard that great big sigh....) too much hype for a day. please don't hate me!
On a side note I am hoping they get rivers of light opened given that Main Street electrical parade is now gone too. Everything seems to be closing :( - I need some good news. Have you seen anything about Star Wars fireworks yet? I am hoping they will be on. And just to confirm someone's comment about a light jacket, not sure if you remember my first trip report 2 years ago, hot one day and like 40 the following day and I had jeans on and a fleece I had to buy while I was there (I was prepared last year and it was virtually 80 degrees the whole time) so this year I am going to pack jeans and fleece and then hopefully they won't see the outside of my suitcase :)

Does anyone know when Disney will sell these??? I don't wanna pay 60 bucks! AHH

They are available year round at the Christmas shop in Liberty Square in MK... that's where I bought mine. The Shop Parks app has both the Mickey and Minnie Santa Claus ear hats for sale, along with the ornament ear band, so I don't know why they don't have the sequined one available. So guess you will have to wait until they show up online or you're at WDW.

Since you asked, here's a picture of some of my ears.

I think I'm going to have to start hiring folks like you and some others on here to write my trip reports. Geez, y'alls pre-trips are way better than my actual reports! The plans look good! Can't wait to see you and Joe's thoughts on PoR. We were going to stay there in September after downgrading due to budget hits, but we decided that with the baby being so little, it would be better to have a cheap trip this year and then book a bounce back at Beach Club for next year. Plus, I'm hoping to squeeze into the local steel mill, so hopefully the budget will expand immensely. Looking forward to more reporting!

No...don't pay that!! They're only $22 when I got them in November! When we were there in 2014 in mid-October, they had already started putting them out.
I keep checking the disney store website, and the disney parks merchandise app.. and still nothing! They just released Minnie and MIckey Santa hats with ears, so they must be coming! I like the Halloween ones too.. with purple and green. At one number of ears will I have to admit that I have a problem?

Whenever I'm on the news and rumors forum, posters always tell me not to worry that they put so much into the Star Wars firework show, and they aren't going anywhere. That is at least something! And I am really hopeful for Rivers of Light. I honestly think they would have extending Jungle Book if it's nowhere near ready. When people were posting on Twitter photos of them testing, it got my hopes up! I'm gonna guess it opens in October.. but who am I LOL! Wishful thinking for our trip!

I will for sure bring all sorts of clothing, thank you so much for reminding me of this! I truly hope I can sneak in a water park day, so hopefully it is warm at least one of my down days!

I get the whole "hype for one day" thing, I feel the same about Halloween. I'm hoping that celebrating Christmas in Disney just makes is a little extra special.

My friend is going to Disney next week so I told her to look in that store! Thank you for the heads up! She was just there in late November last year and they were all sold out! I've been obsessively checking the app! I will find them! And I loveeeeeeeee your collection! You have me, and my wallet inspired!

Have you thought about getting some Christmas ears on Etsy? I've gotten all my ears there.

I ordered ears on etsy and while they were fine for the day, I don't think they would survive multiple trips. :arghh::arghh: I don't know...I'm sure they have awesome quality ears on there.. I will have to check it out! Thanks for the tip! Recommend any sellers?

Thanks so much for the compliment! Haha! I wish I was a full time Disney writer, anyone hiring?! LOL
Glad you think my plans look good! I still check the MyDisneyExperience App everyday and think of changing it all around! OOPS! The bounceback for Beach Club sounds amazing! Smart thinking! That will be the best!! I would love to stay there, and go to the pool and eat a kitchen sink.. the list goes on! September is almost here.. getting excited for you! :)

Good idea booking a few signature restaurants. Next time I do dining plan i'll be doing the same thing - otherwise just too much food! Looking forward to the report.

I am excited to try the signatures, as other trips never really gave me the opportunity! Thanks so much, I truly loved yours! :)

I have gotten some from Shopmymouse. These are really light and use the thin headbands, which I like because they actually stay in my hair (I have no texture in my hair). They are definitely not the quality of the Disney ones, but I just like that I can get unique designs :) I've actually never bought any from the parks! I've heard though that the glued ones aren't as good in the heat because the glue can melt! So I'm anxious to see if mine melt when I'm there in Oct.

If you're used to the parks ears, I'd just stick with those. The handmade ones might be disappointing in the quality department
