I'm so happy for you...having a week off is GREAT:). Being a once a month WDW visitor from Miami, with most of our trips not planned far in advance (1-2 weeks or sometimes even 1-2 days) I suggest that IF you wanna stay on WDW propert call in advance...especially during the first week in April.

Off property...you may be lucky..more than sure.

Have Fun...Quick Planned trips rock!

.. now this was a long time ago, around 1994, but it was awesome.

I know the rules have probably changed, so no one tell me they don't do this anymore - they probably don't - but this is what happened...

We were broke, early in our marriage, and arrived after driving 12 hours from Philadelphia. Anyhow, I had found a great rate at a place on I-drive. When we got there (around 2am) I found that it was an absolute pit and that we wouldn't stay there.

We drove over to the CBR where we had our honeymoon. I walked in, my wife is in the car crying because she thinks our vacation is ruined. I can't afford the (then) $129 per night it cost, but I figure I'd try. I walked to the desk, told the guy my situation and that my wife was in the car, our honeymoon, etc. He tells me that I was eligibile for the special "walk-in rate" of an amazing $49 per night. I couldn't believe it. I don't know if he just helped me commit larceny or what, but 70% off at the last minute at 3am was awesome.

Don't know who that guy was, but I'll never forget that magic. My wife was nutzo-excited.

They would've already closed the books for the night and written that room off as lost revenue, so they'd be more than happy to give it to you for $49. $49-cost of cleaning the next day is better than $0, especially when you make the guest feel like they've just gotten something special.

Spring Break here in GA is the first week of April. We went a lot on Spring Break when we were kids, and it was always the most crowded time!

Good luck...

Oh...jerlev, you beat me to it...

WOW - how fast were you driving??? Mapquest says:

Total Estimated Time: 15.0 hours 53 minutes

Mapquest, Google Maps, Yahoo Maps...they all assume Grandma is driving!

According to Mapquest, it should take me 26 minutes to get to work, and I live 8 miles away with no traffic... :ROFLOL:

1017 miles / 65 miles per hour = 15.6 hours.

1017 miles / 75 miles per hour = 13.56 hours.....

1017 miles / 12 hours = 84.75 miles per hour

They were flying! LOL

I am thinking about going to Walt Disney World without reservations. Got the first week of April off and I am thinking it be a quiet time for a visit the weather should not be too hot yet.

My questions are if I decide to drop into Walt Disney World with no reservations will I likely get a room? Will the guards even let me in with no reservations?

we were turned away from the contemporary when we told the guard we wanted to look at the christmas display they had up at the time. also dining will probably be very limited with no adr's

If you're gonna try, go to SSR and OKW. Big resorts that seem to fill up after everything else does. Probably your best chance for a "miracle."

If your interested, call and use code CKK for a studio @ Saratoga Springs, It's for family and friends of DVC members which I am. $204/n Either way you need to have a reservation. They won't book you At the front desk, they will have you call the reservations # That was my experience 2 Feb's ago when the NY airports were snowed in and had to add 2 days to stay.
