Going to the park the day you land...

I also do 3 hours (which gives you 4 to get there since it's an hour window) - and I make the first one for something that typically doesn't sell out during the day so if we are delayed or running late I can go on my phone and adjust the time of the first FP to later in the day.

If i was flying in and taking dme id prob do very minimum 2 hours after arrival time, expect around a hour for boarding and bus time to resort. That tech would give you overall around 3 hours with the hour of fp time but I'd prob opt for the 3 hour after as said above. Plus it depends when u arrive sometimes it's dead u could walk right on bus and leave be to resort and park in a hour and a half

I'd say 3 hours is a good number. We usually arrive by 9AM and wait around for maybe 20 minutes. We're in the parks by 11 or so, but we literally just check in at the resort and go to the parks, dealing with luggage and room later. Just keep your phone handy. ;)

It'll be my first time making FP+ reservations after I land, and I am planning on no less than 4 hours. We are arriving around 11:30. I'm giving at least an hourish to boarding the Magical Express and baggage, then another hourish for getting to WDW and checking in (or leaving our luggage), then the remaining time to get to the park, have lunch, and take in finally being there!

I agree with 3 hours, once you land it takes from walking down to the ME then to stand in line , get on the bus, get to the hotel a good 1 1/2 hours give or take a little. Enjoy your time~

@DisneyJoe & @NYwdwfan ... Do you take magical express or another way of transportation... I was originally thinking 3 hours also but my sister is suggesting 5
usually takes us 1 hour or slightly more for DME airport to the resort, we allow up to 1 hour for resort check in and stowing our carryon bags with bell services and the final hour as transport time to get to the park, go through park security, and then get where we need to go in the park.

Times can vary greatly - we once made it from airport to resort in 55 minutes on DME, another time took 75 minutes.

Resort checkin can take 10-15 minutes if everything goes smooth, I once had it take close to an hour due to lines, trainees, and computer issues.

Depending on the resort we are staying at and what park we are heading to is the final leg. Always allow at least 60 minutes for Disney transportation. Time of day can affect this part of the journey too.

I calculate 5 hours as the entry time for my first park INCLUDING my flight time from NYC. So for example if my flight takes off at 9am, I can be in a park barring any major delays by about 2 pm. 3 hours should be more than sufficient. Marie

We always land in the morning hours, this year we land at MCO at 8:30am. If we were going to the park after arriving at the resort, then my first FP would be scheduled for 12:30-1:30pm, and it is always for something we can always jump in the stand-by for if we are late, like Spaceship Earth. We always go to Epcot on our arrival day, and we'll be able to walk there this year, staying so close. If our rooms are ready, then we will just relax at the resort for while. We have a dinner ADR at Garden Grill for 5:25pm, so I will actually schedule our FP's for later in the day than usual.

Magical Express to the hotel-> Check In-> Magic Kingdom

So in essence, 2-3 hours before we are in the park

Even though the CBR takes longer to get to your room (DME drops you off at the front desk, then you need to take a bus to your village and walk to your room), there were a lot of bottlenecks that did not happen. My plane landed on time, there was not a long line for DME (the line for the All-Stars buses went about 80-100 people deep, there was no traffic to the CBR, we checked in online and had our room assignment.

I live in TX and I always do the 1st flight out my arrival day. Normally my flight takes off at 6:30am and lands at like 10am, flights only 2.5hrs but it's a time zone ahead. I personally like to go to Epcot and my arrival day. That might just be bc it's my favorite park and we like the Epcot area hotels, but we find it the best park on arrival day bc you can do a few rides once in the park then go back to WS. If staying onsite and you have easy park access being at a MK or Epcot resort I'd say making your 1st fast pass 2 hrs after your plane lands is safe. You could probably get away with an hour and a half but that might be cutting it close.

Personally, Epcot is always my choice for first day arrival touring. If your arrive mid-day, the fact many guests have moved to the WS, plus the sheer size, means FW has comparatively shorter lines. For my trip we arrived so late that the MK (which closed at midnight) was the only viable option.

We typically go straight to MK. This time with the kids we are hanging poolside our first day. Exploring AoA and maybe POP. Early to bed so we can get to MK the next day early for an 8:15 reservation.
