My Husband and I are going to Disney for 5 Nights. This is our first time back in 20 years. Wow how things have changed. Any ideas, suggestions? I don't know where to start planning! Thanks.

Yes, 20 years ago you could have gone clubbing at night at Pleasure Island!

My suggestion would be to enjoy the Magic Kingdom, then in the late afternoon catch a monorail over to Tambu at the Polynesian for a backscratcher, then back to the Magic Kingdom for the fireworks and parade. The rum can take the edge off a long day of strollers and pushy/shovey people.

Another "grown up" thing to do would be to consider the Richard Petty driving experience, if you can swing it. Beats the heck out of Test Track!

Finally, the obvious: Epcot and its many countries and many adult concoctions. No need to sample them all. Just enjoy at an adult's pace and don't worry so much about whether Dreamfinder will reunite with Figment.

Enjoy your freedom. My wife and I have gone twice since we were married in 09 and loved all of it. Boat and carrage rides at PORS, hopping from park to park for meals "we" like, and enjoying the late extra magic hours were some of our favorites. World showcase is great for grownups and I love the stunt shows at the studios. Have a blast because WDW is even more fun as an adult.

Our favorite thing to do as adults at Disney? Let our inner child out. The teacups and Dumbo are good places to start.

Well played, sir.

I agree. While my future wife and I are still relatively young (I'm 27, she's 25) and we don't have kids, we love going just the 2 of us. By day we let our inner child out, by night we wine and dine like adults. Some of our favorites are V&A's* (he'll need a sports coat for that one), Shula's*, bluezoo*, Citricos, Flying Fish, Jiko, Artist Point, Bistro de Paris. Flying Fish also has a nice Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner which was excellent and if you are by any chance staying at AKL the Wanyama Safari was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had.

While there isn't as much to do at night as there used to be, which can be tough if you are going durring a time of year when the parks aren't open passed 9:00, there are still some things to do, such as: going to see La Nouba, taking a night time ride on Characters in Flight followed by dessert at Ghirardelli's, spending some time at Jelly Roll's, play a late night round of mini-golf (Fantasia Gardens is easy to get to, it's accross the street from Swan/Dolphin and about a 5 minute walk from the Boardwalk), taking a carriage ride at POR (you can stop at the River Roost Lounge before your ride and grab a glass/bottle of wine to take with you) or enjoy PM EMH (provided you are staying on site) even if it is just to walk around the parks a little at night.

If you plan on doing as many rides or attractions as you can in the 6 days or so that you will be there, you will have a pretty full plate. However, if you are looking to slow things down for a couple of hours durring the day, I would consider taking one of the tours that Disney has to offer. We have done the Keys to the Kingdom (MK) and Backstage Safari (AK) and I would highly suggest either.

My husband and I are leaving in nine days for an adults-only anniversary trip (and I'm just about to burst with excitement!)!! :sohappy: We will mostly be running from ride to ride, acting like big kids, but we do have tickets to see La Nouba one night, and we are going to be doing the Backstage Magic tour. We're also spending 2 days at Universal and IoA, riding all the "big" coasters that our 6-year-old can't go on yet, and I will definitely be sampling some of the delicious adult beverages at Epcot that I've heard so much about!

Have fun planning!

I would suggest some of the excellent tours that are offered by WDW. We have taken several and have enjoyed them all immensely.

Im surprised no one has mentioned a little drinking around the world...always fun, you dont have to have a drink in every country just go at your own pace...or a little faster because its vacation. I would also put most my planning into the restaurants. Most people will choose parks then try to match dinner ressies, I do the opposite. Def head over to the swan and dolphin hotels and check out Shula's and BlueZoo. Ive yet to go to shulas but blueZoo is amazing.
What hotel are you thinking of staying at?

I would do the following:
- California Grill
- get drunk at the polynesian pool
- get drunk at 'ohana
- get drunk at Jellyrolls
- Fantasmic dinner package
- get drunk at La Cava del Tequila then watch IllumiNations

I'm with jlevis on this one. Few things are more fun about Disney than the ability to just let go and have fun. Get your picture taken with Mickey (and other characters you love!) Get a silly hat or Mickey ears. Deck yourself out in some silly, blinkie item at night. Eat ice cream for lunch if you want and just, enjoy yourselves.

I'm with MissM on this one... Do yourself a favor and stop at the Main Street Bakery, ask for the ice cream cookie sandwich. My wife and I wanted lunch, we looked at each other asking "Well, what would you like?" We both said ice cream! This thing is so monsterous, but so delicious. Grab a table outside, people watch, and house that bad boy!

Other things i enjoy there as an adult.. Downtown Disney: Raglan Road is a great spot for good beer and music. Next door to that, Fuego if you enjoy a good cigar or drink. Ghiradelli: Hot Fudge Sundae while people watching or sit by the water.

If you can afford it you need to go to Victoria and Alberts...it is the best restaurant in Florida and has been a Five Diamond award winner for the last 12 years...it is something everyone should try once

My hubby and I were there alone one month ago for the first time. Our child is a freshman in college and this is our first trip alone together since he as born so I was a little worried about how we'd get along for a week just the two of us:) We had a great time. Not a lot to do at night so one night we went the Wave and one night we sat the the bar at T Rex for supper. Give us nachos and a long island teas and we are happy. We are not signature dining people but still managed only to have one hamburger in a week. We took the UNDiscovered Future World tour at EPCOT and recommend it. We are ride people and enjoyed every minute!

Thanks for all the suggestions. We decided to stay at the Yacht Club because of its proximity to Epcot. I don't think we are doing the Magic Kingdom at all. Still trying to plan it all out, and too much to see, too many good restaurant choices and not enough days! Our priorities are Epcot, and Animal Kingdom. Would love to go to Hollywood Studios too, and then there's Harry Potter World at Universal that keeps calling my name. So I guess I have to map everything out wisely.
Dining is very important - we love good food and fine wine. I am gluten intolerant, and was very excited to see that Disney has gluten free menus!
I attempted to make one dinner reservation at the California Grill ( I read it was great and it was a good place to view fireworks), and found that it was available only one night of our stay, and that was at 7:35! So now I am in panic mode regarding restaurants!
Keep all the suggestions coming please, I don't have a lot of time to do research and appreciate your experiences.

if you are a harry potter fan you'll have a blast there. i've intentionally avoided all things harry potter until i went to IoA this summer. if that won me over (ride the ride, drink the butterbeer), i can only imagine what its like for a true potter fan

when i do an all adult trip (either with my husband, adult daughter, or my sister) we like to plan time for a signature dinner each evening, we like to take time out to have a drink or two in the various lounges, but yes we still go hard in the parks. with my husband we approach the trip more like a honeymoon, with my sister or my daughter (age 22) it can be more like a bachlorette party lol but it's a TOTALLY different experience than going with kids.
