Well, I've decided to take the Disney trip in February by myself. My GF doesn't have any vacation time, so I'm on my own. Actually, 2 of my friends may be meeting me there and staying for the weekend, but I'll be there for at least 5 days all by my lonesome.

I have to say, the parks I'll have a blast at. But what about some of the restaurants? I LOVE the Sci Fi. How can you eat there by yourself? What to do, what to do.

And I also recommend that you take the time to explore the various Disney resorts. That is almost as fun as visiting the parks.

I did this the last time I went there. It was so much fun! Like, nobody had ever wanted to go with me for a ride in the monorail, which I love! So this time I was by myself, I took it and just went stopping at the resorts. I had never seen the Poly and the GF. Man, they are awesome!!! I had plenty of time to videotape and photograph whatever I wanted, and to people watch.

I love going by myself -- it's a ton of fun. You can do whatever you want, when you want, and you can do stuff you aren't able to do when your family is with you. I like visiting resorts and eating at their restaurants, something the rest of my family doesn't like to do, so when I go alone I do it all the time. Nothing like stopping at MGM for a ride on Tower and RnRc, then a boat ride to the Yacht and Beach Club for lunch at Beaches and Cream. :slurp:

You'll have a blast. :)

That's it!

Guys, we gotta realize that we are DIFFERENT from the other people. We are disney freaks! Our experience at WDW is totally different from that of the other people (regular people, my husband would say... ). So there are things only disney nuts like to do. A regular guest doesn't look at the windows on Main Street, for example, and they don't think that's something interesting to know about. Going to WDW with other disney nuts is wonderful! Going there with people who like it is great, but sometimes it is much better to be alone!

I think a good litmus test is if you can go to the movies by yourself or not.
Definitely! I almost always go to the movies by myself... because I;m extremely picky about what movies I like to go see. My friends have different tastes than I do. I'd rather go see a comedy, action or thriller than some drama tear-jerker (and I'm a girl) or a horror flick. I've been going to the movies alone for years as a refult and I have no problem with it. Another advantage is I can sit where I want to sit... which is kind of close (but not waaay uo front) because even with my contacts I can be blind as a bat sometimes.

I just got back from my first solo trip to WDW and had a blast! I was a little apprehensive at first, but really got into it pretty quickly. It was such a sense of freedom not having to say or hear "Hurry up", "Slow down", "I don't want to", "Do you want to?". If I wanted to wait a half-hour for the next round of characters to come out, I did. If I wanted to pass up a ride, I did.

As far as dining, I did mostly fast food (and it does go fast when you're dining by yourself), but also did a couple of character meals, so got to interact with the characters during the meal. I have to admit, I didn't feel awkward at all eating alone at any of them. One thing I did do is bring along a teddy bear and ask the characters to pose with her, which was a real hit with the characters and made for interesting conversations. I was also very pleasantly surprised that some of my surrounding diners offered to take some pictures for me so I could be in them.

I also found I was more willing to ask Cast Members for things than I was on trips with other people. CMs are also great about taking pictures with the characters in the parks for you if you're solo (can you tell I'm a character hound?).

I definitely like travelling to WDW with friends, but a solo trip was a great change of pace and something I wouldn't be afraid to do again.
