Going alone

Hey all,

I'm a 34 year old dad who generally takes my DW and 2 DD's (age 6 and 3) at least once a year. This October I have a convention and will be going to Orlando alone. I just decided to stay at POFQ and make a little Disney vacation out of it. I just wondered, for those of you who have gone alone before, how is it? It will seem a little strange not having to carry diapers, wipes, change of clothes for three ladies, etc. around with me the whole time, but I think I can get used to that part of things. Am I going to feel a little strange being alone the whole time? I'm thinking of doing some different stuff on this trip (parasailing, segway tour, etc.). Are there any suggestions on things I should think about doing since I won't be responsible for anyone but myself?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks for all the alone well wishes. The more I think of it, the more I'm looking forward to it. I'm finding the hardest part is the dining. I'm still trying to figure out where I want to eat alone. I did make a reservation at Raglan Road at 8:30 so I can see the dancer (the kids would not do well having to wait until then to eat). So, I'm sure I will figure things out. If there are other ideas or suggestions for my alone trip, I would love to hear them. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far.
Since you are by yourself you may consider places that are difficult to get into. Being alone means that you can be flexible with dining at off times. I got into Ohana's that way. I had to settle for a 9:30 seating, but who cares. As far as feeling funny, I did feel a bit awkward at Ohana's at first. After a couple of minutes I did not care. I was not about to let my awkwardness interfere with a magnificent feast. :)

I went on my first solo trip a month ago... and I had so much fun! I didn't even do that many rides because it was crowded, but I just went at my own pace and took things in. It is really nice to be able to go at your own pace and get to really listen to the atmosphere and the music.

I just moved here last weekend and I went to Epcot solo last night. I had a wonderful time! I stopped and took some pictures, sat on a bench and watched meet-and-greet with Genie, Aladdin, and Jasmine.

I think that any of the restaurants at DTD are great dine alone restaurants. I ate at Wolfgang last night and didn't have to wait. I got seated at a table in the bar and got to watch some baseball and such. Disney is the perfect solo-vacation experience!

Hey LeeSee...you're living the dream! I have my move countdown set for less than 5 years! Love for you to post on the ups and downs of making the move!
