Trip Report Gobble Gobble - We’re Live!

Helllllooo Humans!

Ugh. Where to start with this trip?! The backstory is a bit long & sad, but hakuna matata! Disney is our absolute happy place. It's where we go to celebrate accomplishments big and small, and where we retreat to to escape reality. This trip with be my 9th trip since last May! So how did this trip come to be??

Dillon & I (Santina) will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary on December 10th and we figured there's no place better to celebrate than WDW! In September we started looking for hotels & flights and there was just NOTHING. Well, I shouldn't say nothing, but nothing we were willing to pay that much money for. So we decided to give up on the Disney trip & celebrate at a ski resort near our home instead. However, when I priced out 2 nights and it came out to be more than $1000 and my internal crazy Disney voice said "keep checking... spend your money on the mouse"

So I kept checking and checking & eventually found flights & a hotel at a reasonable price for the week of Thanksgiving but I wasn't super thrilled about it being during Thanksgiving. A week later I found out I was pregnant and would be 14 weeks along during our potential trip. I got so excited, got the okay to book from Dill, and started planning how I was going to tell my amazing husband he was going to be a dad in Disney World!!!

And then I had a miscarriage. And my world was devastated & I had to tell my husband that I was pregnant and now wasn't and it was awful. We went back and forth about wanting to still go on this trip because what should have been a wonderful celebration is now a reminder of our child that isn't here. Ultimately, we decided we would still go and celebrate my birthday (the 26th) and our one year anniversary. And I'm glad we decided that because boy do we need this vacation!

Dill recently started his own business & has been working 15+ hour days. I'm in graduate school & working 40 hour weeks for my internship with an hour commute each way with no pay. We recently got 2 new puppies bringing our fur baby count to FOUR!! So you could say our house is a mad house and that this Disney vacation is well deserved & certainly needed. So here's to a hopefully wonderful trip filled with joy & celebration, and maybe a little one in 9 short months ;)

Thanks for following along! Be back later with the deets!

Side note about nothing about Disney: I forgot to mention that during this -storm that has been the last few months of our lives my engagement ring and wedding bands were stolen from our home. We're not sure if it was the internet installers or our friend, but either way it was ty. Dillon custom made my ring before he proposed and I loved it so much! Luckily we have awesome home owners insurance and they completely covered it minus our deductible. So Dillon & I got to create a new ring! The jeweler no longer carried the setting Dillon used last time, so we decided to go for something completely different. The only thing that we kept the same was that the center stone would be a black diamond! I just got it this weekend so I'm too excited not to share a photo :D

While it doesn't hold the same sentimental value, I think it's beautiful!

So 2 hours before we're heading out & here I am in true procrastination style finishing this up! Last night we celebrated my birthday with my family & we got home around 9:30. Which means that I didn't start packing until 10:30. Which means we weren't packed until 11:30! I'm seriously the worst!!! But onto the plans!

Today!
We have 4 fur babies, but asking any one individual to take all 4 is a little insane. Normally we use a kennel (the one we frequent has Disney themed rooms!) however our families ensured us that they could handle the doggies! My mother-in-law will be over in a bit to take our morkie Teddy, he's kind of a grumpy old man and doesn't get along with everyone but LOVES her so it'll be a nice little vacation for him. Our neighbor is taking our oldest husky (she's 2!), Lilo until Sunday because Lilo and their pup are the best of friends. And my little sister will be staying at our house to watch our 4 month old huskies puppies Riddle & Nagini!

We're planning on leaving our house around 10:15 after all the pups are taken care of and driving to Albany for a flight to MCO at 3pm! We should arrive around 6 :D

Hopping on the Magical Express and heading to Port Orleans French Quarter. We'll drop our stuff in our room & head over to Magic Kingdom to spend Thanksgiving there! We'll be having dinner at Be Our Guest at 9:15 :) And whether or not we ride anything won't matter - we just want to be in Magic Kingdom!!

Friday the 24th
Animal Kingdom in the morning and early afternoon! Lunch at Yak & Yeti. Hop over to Hollywood Studios for the evening where we have fast passes for Star Tours, Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania.

Saturday the 25th
Epcot in the morning? Maybe. We have fast passes for Epcot in the morning but still not sure yet! Mama Melrose's for a late lunch, and then who knows where the evening will take us! Probably back to Epcot.

Sunday the 26th! My 26th Birthday!!!
Check out of French Quarter and check in at the Poly. If our room's ready we might hang out there for a little bit. We'll go wherever I feel like going that morning when the time comes! We have lunch at Le Cellier (all I want is soup & creme brûlée) and we will be going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in the evening! Should be a perfect birthday :D

Monday the 27th - The day we're celebrating our Anniversary!
Epcot all day! Via Napoli for lunch. It'll probably be an early night, head to the Poly for a nightcap and maybe order some room service.

Tuesday the 28th - Departure day :arghh:
Our flight leaves at 11:30 which means we can't go anywhere this morning. We'll probably head up to Kona for breakfast & wait for the tragical to come take us back to reality

So those are the plans! Stay tuned for what actually unfolds, and pictures of my adorable dogs ;)

Following along! So sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have a fantastic trip planned though and it is clearly well deserved! :) Your suitcases are hilarious :joyfull:

If you’re getting room service at the Poly you should get whatever that “feast” is called that is all the offerings that you would get at ‘Ohana :hungry: I’ve never stayed there myself, just read about it on these reports.

Thank you!! We’ve done the feast thing before & I think we may be doing it again - if you ever stay at the Poly you definitely have to try it at least once!

Our flight was scheduled to land a few minutes ago but good news! We’re on our final descent! Woohoo :) should be touching done in under 15 minutes :) the flight was relatively uneventful. There was some moderate turbulence & the in-flight entertainment wasn’t working. I didn’t think it was a big deal but JetBlue is giving us all $50 vouchers for future travel because of it - Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh yeah, my mom and dad got me this super cute coach purse for my birthday! And my siblings got me a matching wristlet in black! I’ll upload it when I wear it on the trip :inlove:

Have a photo from last night!

Now I have a confession. We are not rope drop people. We get up everyday at 5am and don’t typically get to bed until 11:30ish so on vacation we’ve been known to sleep in. Guess who couldn’t sleep past 7:15 this morning?! Me! I took my time getting ready & by the time Dill was up and ready to go it was around 9.

We headed to the bus stop and the line for Animal Kingdom was huge! Also we must have just missed a bus because there wouldn’t be another one for20 minutes. We decided to take an uber instead!

Got to Animal Kingdom, watched Devine for a little & made our way to Dinosaur. Then we hit up it’s tough to be a bug, flights of wonder, and the safari. We trekked the Maharajah and are currently settled in at Yak & Yeti awaiting some yummy lunch!

We got back to POFQ and bought a bottle of barcardi. After a (too) long siesta, we decided to ditch the parks for tonight and head to Disney Springs for dinner and a movie. We took a relaxing boat ride and found ourselves at Wolfgang Puck Express!
Dillon got a meatball pizza

And I got the always delicious bacon wrapped meatloaf

We did some shopping & my millennial self finally got my hands on rose gold Minnie ears! I buy a new pair every trip & have been trying to get these on 3 trips now!

Anyways, we stopped by Sprinkles to pick up my free birthday cupcake :) then we stopped by amc to watch Daddy’s Home 2 - it was great!!!

By the time the movie let out it was midnight. And we decided to do this....

And that’s a wrap for today! Now just patiently awaiting a bus home :)
