Ummmmm
Yeah, where in the world did you hear something like that? Though the MGM naming rights are up at the end of the year, that doesn't mean they would have the same rights contracted in the same document. I'll bet they have a very different arrangement for that. For MGM, that ride probably causes people to remember some classics and is quite the promo tool.
There was a rumor about adding a Ratatouille coaster, but no real source was ever provided so we'll just have to wait and see. However, GMR is really a people eater, and is one of the park's original attractions. We've lost a lot of the original park, but that ride remains. It is really a tribute to classic movie magic, and the only things that could be rethought are the scenes used for contemporary films of the 80's up to today.
If you look at the films presented in the ride, each was a real game changer in its own way. That is also wy they are classics. Everything from The Wizard of Oz to Indiana Jones inspired new genres and have stood the test of time. Things like Alien however have been far surpassed buy films like Star Wars and therefore may change.
The film at the end is updated once in a while, and it tries to showcase in less than 3 minutes the strength and variety of popular cinema. If this piece is not updated once a decade I think I would be upset about it. But they manage to do a good job. Beyond the Jungle Cruise, it is one of the few rides that has cast member guides. The cost of that alone should be appreciated.
