Have only seen some videos, but it seemed to be really effective.

However, you don't get any benefit from buying them yourself, you need lots of other people to have bought them. :D

Try watching these (make sure they are set to a hd resolution though, worth waiting for even if you have a slow connection).

I don't think they are effective. You put out all that money and you can't really see them glow because they are on your head. I have also found them distracting while I'm trying to watch the show.

We got them in DL two summers ago. We have since carried them back to DL and to WDW on our last trip and haven't worn them again for any shows. The kids didn't even use them with the Osborne Lights. They were very cool the first time we used them for WOC, but really haven't been used since.

When I went in January - Fantasmic! glow with the show was pathetic (despite being standing room only). There was a small section of people with the ears only to find it was a reserved group at the back of the theater. It is an absolute waste of money (just as bad as people buying the MB and its associated accessories).

IMO, the only way they would be worth the money is if I had kids that I was trying to teach about budgeting and priorities. Then I might tell them they have a certain amount of money for souvenirs for the trip up front, and that they can use that money how they choose, but that once it's gone, it's gone. I would then use the opportunity to let them gain real world experience in making buying decisions (and along the way encouraging them to explore all souvenir options before making decisions so they don't regret their choices).

But if we're talking about kids who are too young to be taken through that kind of thought process? No. Wouldn't be worth it; as others have said, they can't see the ears glowing anyway, and they probably won't get worn/used again after the trip.

They're only effective when lots of people are wearing them.

This is true...I bought a pair expecting to see tons of people wearing it at Fantasmic! But, this was just at the time they were sold out on property and they started to bring them back in very limited amounts..It's a neat gimmick..But, It would have been better if they could be used for other things rather than just 3 nighttime shows (Wishes, Fantsmic! & Osborne Spectacle).

Like others have said, they add to the show. However, I can't see dragging those back every time we return to WDW. They actually take up a lot of room if you don't want to crush them. Something that packs well would be a much better option.

I got them for free for attending the premier and taping of the Winter Dreams World of Color show. It was fun at the time because the entire crowd wore them, but they are heavy and cumbersome. I will never wear them again and I do not take them to WDW with me.

Ok - thanks for your views and votes in the poll! By the looks of it, the common consensus is not to get them - I can see them working well if a lot of people have them, but being a complete waste of money if your the only one wearing them..

When our friends went a couple of months ago, their kids wanted the GWTS Ears - but, they were told that: Disney had run out of stock and wouldn't be getting any more for around 2 months!!!!!

Might be worth it if Disney did two things:
1) made them cheaper
2) implemented their use on other attractions

The whole problem with them is that you get no benefit from purchasing them yourself.

If only Disney could find a way to loan them out for free or low cost for the shows.

i bought a pair in December and don't plan on taking them with me in June, they are so heavy and don't really stay on you head.

Definitely, NOT worth it! My DD5 had saved up more than enough money & wanted them soooo bad. So, we bought them for her with her money & tightened them up as small as they would go & they still kept falling off of her head. Therefore we went back to the store & returned them! Anyway, I think that plain Mickey ears or a head band is worth more than these that you may never wear again!

Bought 2, 1 for each of DD's (5yrs and 9yrs). The oldest one had a better time of it, mostly due to her head being bigger and having a more snug fit. We actually lost a pair getting off Jungle Cruise when my DD 5yrs looked down while exiting the boat....and splash! On top of that, we were told to turn them off while entering certain dark rides (PoTC, HM etc), which kinda stinks. Since we had two pairs, it was interesting to see them NOT synch up the same to the shows (watched wishes twice and fantasmic once). They never seemed right to me in terms of matching each other or the shows. Plus, it seemed we were the only people in the park that had them, and most people didn't know what they were! NOT worth it.....
