Glow w/ the Show Ears

I have been watchings tons of videos about the Glow w/ the Show Ears over at DL and recently read about how they now work with the West Coast version of Fantasmic! Anyone have any insider scoop as to whether or not they are going to make use of these awesome little things at WDW in anyway? It seems now that Fantasmic! supports them, there'd be at least a chance (since the show is duplicated on both coasts with only small differences) right?

I can just imagine Mainstreet lined with them during Wishes (or the new castle show) or the World Showcase lagoon being surrounded by them during Illuminations. Seems there are so many more opportunities at WDW to find great ways to use them, just because there are more gates.

I bought two pair for my kids when I was there a few weeks ago. They are very heavy and the strap not so tight. When my kids leaned forward, they fell of their heads and broke.

Thanks for the warning... If offered at WDW I'd super glue them to all our heads. LOL! :D

At $25 a pop, it's not a bad idea. They did replace them though and I took the band and wrapped it up around one of the ears to make it tighter. But they still do not stay on small heads very well.

As cool as this technology is, this is the big issue with it. Unless a good number of people are wearing these the effect just isn't that great. The early videos of World of Color looked great because they gave the ears out for free, but when we saw the show there were only a handful of them and the effect wasn't as good.

This is true, but the cool thing is when you have two pair, they sync up to each other even without a show and are always the same color. It's a pretty neat effect, so when taking pictures of my boys at night, their ears were always the same color.

Now that is pretty cool.

See that makes me want them at WDW even more.

They must be adult size hats..You'd think they would have them in kids sizes.

Personally I was disappointed in them. Got 2 pairs for my kids and they were not in sync with each other during WoC. Occassionally they would seem to match the music but not consistently. The show was packed and I maybe saw 50 pairs in the crowd total, and there were several that were "off." So it did not really add anything to the show for us. We would have looked into replacing one or both but kids were totally spent after long day and 30 min of standing trying to see the show, and it was our last day at DLR. Now at home ears flash differently. And as mentioned, they don't fit well. Great idea, but execution leaves a bit to be desired.

Yikes! Thanks for the warning...

To respond to the OP about when/if they are coming to WDW, I think that time is very near. They put new twinkle lights on the trees in the hub recently, and the new "Celebrate the Magic" projection show is coming. The biggest problem with Glow with the Show is getting enough people to buy the ears and wear them to the show night after night. One workaround I suggested was to have more lights all around the viewing area synced up to the show, so that you would still get the effect even if not many people were wearing the ears. My completely unsubstantiated suspicion is that the twinkle lights in the hub will work with Glow with the Show and the system will premiere at WDW with Wishes and the new Celebrate the Magic whenever that starts up.

So they are like the old pins in a way?
I hear they work off of Infared, Never seen the pins so I'm not sure.

I'll have to keep my eye on Ebay for a set of two, One to keep, One to figure out how it works---and Possibly be able to recreate some of the IR/etc effects at home!

I know during the 100 years of Magic celebration they had a set of 4 pins (one for each park) with lights in them and during certain scenes in attractions, they would blink different colors. IMO it worked best in Test Track. (Blink blue in the cold room, red in the heat, and yellow in the acid test) Also, in the HM, the red would "beat" like a heart when you reached the bride. There were other attractions that would trigger them but I think you get the point.
